I am rather annoyed. I have been super busy for the last month or so and have not logged into ChaCha at all. I got an email from them today saying my account we deactivated for violation of the Guide Agreement and fraudulent activity! Anyone else got this? I am so pissed off.

Are you sure it's a legitimate email from THEM or one of these scam ones? I get similar ones from PayPal..and just recently got one from ebay that was a scam...telling me that I had bid on something and didn't pay the seller...I haven't bid on anything or bought anything from ebay in ages...they, this phoney email told me my ebay account was going to be deactivated to...I zapped over to ebay and all is well, I'm not zapped....

I have gotten those ebay and paypal ones too. I did try to log in and got an error of "invalid username or password" Here is the email I got: From: system_feedback@chacha.com [mailto:system_feedback@chacha.com] Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 2:59 PM Subject: Your ChaCha account has been Deactivated. Your ChaCha account has been deactivated permanently for violation of the Guide Agreement. Your account is under research and payment will be made within the next 45-60 days for outstanding balance less fraudulent searches. Thank you. John Hertweck Customer Care Director

Is there anyway to write to them about this...Also is there the slightest chance your account was hacked into and someone else was using it and created the violations???

I did contact them about it and did get a response. I started another discussion about it: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1608815.aspx# I am challenging their decision.

After only about a week of being a Guide, I was deactivated for QC and not showing signs of improvement. This came the day after I had just received a congratulatory e-mail for having over 200 searches in a week's time. I had only received a couple of QC messages (the one's they tell you aren't punishment) where they cited "presentation" for the reason. I asked for clarification so that I could "improve," but never received an answer. Fellow guides were very gracious and helpful on the forums and said that my content was fine, but it was my use of emoticons (smilies) after the answer. I was unable to answer a few questions because the wonderful server kept crashing (not my fault) and many of my questions were still garbled messes that hadn't been cleaned up, which sometimes take a little while to figure out. I am SO angry. As a result of being deactivated, my money that I am owed will now be tied up until after Christmas. Coincidence? I think not. ChaCha should no longer be allowed to rob hard-working individuals of the measly money they have earned. I am disabled and can use any computer work I can get. I will not rest until ChaCha either starts treating their employees better, or are shut down!

This happened to me today! They emailed me TWICE yesterday and there were questions listed as "Evidence" and they were questions that ANOTHER GUIDE had answered! I had never SEEN them before. I know mine was "legit" because I now cannot log in to my ChaCha account. I am very angry.
