I think my baby is gone. |

I have this "dead" feeling inside me... my little Sherbert is missing this morning. She usually greets me at the door when the sun rises, and spends the morning sleeping at my feet. But she's no where to be seen. I have walked to the mailbox at the end of the driveway, and usually ALL my kitties will show up when I do that, but only my other two followed me... Sherbie is "MIA." She's been missing since... well... last night about 9pm was the last time I saw her. She usually spends the night outside and comes in in the morning for food and loving. I called and called for her to no avail. I fear she might have been attacked by another animal or struck by a car (which happened to my Angel 2 years ago). How long should I wait for her? I'll never find her if she's sick or injured somewhere. It's just too rural an area. I couldn't make her an "indoor" cat, she came to me as a stray. I say no indications of illness yesterday. I am so sad. I know she was a little "snot-nose" brat, but I love her and miss her. I want her back but I feel so useless to sit here and wait. I fear I'll never see her again.

1. photographygirl73 (1824) | 5 months ago | Awww I am so sorry. I understand how you feel. That would break my heart as well. It's so terribly when this happens because you are not sure what to do. Do you drive? Maybe you could drive around & look for her. Or you could put up(or hand out) fliers asking if anyone has seen her or maybe ask them to keep a look out. I am so sorry that your cat is missing. I would feel the same way if it were one of my babies. I will say a prayer that you will find her soon. Please let us know what happens in either case.

wyomugs (193) | 5 months ago | Thanks for your words of encouragement. So far, the entire day is now gone, and no Sherbert. I called my neighbor, who has cats, and told her that Sherbert is missing and to keep her eye out for her. She told me of seeing a Husky type dog chasing the deer away from part of our property, and I am wondering if he might have chased Sherbie, too. Well... all I can do is pray and wait. But I just can't get this "dead" feeling out from inside myself.

wyomugs (193) | 5 months ago | GREEN!!! SHE'S BACK!!!!!!!!! She returned just this morning (Sunday) after 5 days missing. She is injured... she is limping on her back right leg, but she moves well enough, she is EATING (which will help her heal) but she is still a bit skiddish because she is in pain. My other cat, Bucky, is keeping her company outside right now. He's never really warmed up to her, but for some reason, he's keeping her company! I've petted her on the head, so she is still friendly, and "okay" psychologically. But it will still take some time for her to heal before I can get my hands on her to pick her up. I still have NO idea what the extent of her injuries are, apart from her hind leg, and whether she was struck by a car, kicked by a dog, attacked by some animal. But that is all secondary right now. She's HOME! I wish I could "catch" her to take her to the vets, so they can examine her and give her some antibiotics, but that's not going to happen for some time. I will just have to let nature take her healing course. THANK you for your prayers! THEY WORKED... and on the Lord's Day, too! Pray for her healing, of you don't mind. Thanks to all who responded so kindly.

MsTickle (6272) | 4 months ago | Oh that IS good news. I was so afraid she was gone. Poor little sweety, what she must have endured. But she knew where home is and came back. I would be feeling so bad if my Banjo went missing. Good on you...hope she lets you cuddle her soon.

wyomugs (193) | 5 months ago | Well... she HAS RETURNED!!! I am just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! 5 days missing. She is injured ... her right hind leg. But she's getting "around" well enough to find her way HOME again! She's skiddish right now, but she is EATING, and that will help her heal quicker. And my other cat, Bucky, has been outside sitting next to her, keeping her company. They've never been much of friends, but I think he knows she "needs" him right now. Well.. THANKS for your prayers and your hopes!!!
