So who's #1 pound-for-pound?

With the departure of Floyd Mayweather from pro boxing, the top spot was left open for the others to compete. Top three names for me are Manny Pacquiao (lightweight), Joe Calzaghe (welterweight), and Miguel Cotto (light heavyweight). Pacquiao and Calzaghe are a hair higher up the rank than Cotto. This weekend Cotto will be fighting tough Antonio Margarito for the WBA crown. Should he win, this will make the battle for the top spot more interesting. My personal choice is #1Pacquiao, #2Calzghe, #3Cotto...

the pound for pound is not based on the wins and knockouts but the popularity, pacquiao is very popular because the filipino people strongly support him, joe calzaghe and cotto has impressive records.

I beg to disagree, the P4P is not based on popularity. If that's true Arturo Gatti would have atleast bagged it once. His name is a byword because of his never say die style but unfortunately he lacked the talent. His name never even showed up in the rankings.
