raised on muskmelon in a cantaloupe world

all my childhood and into adulthood we had muskmelon every summer. it was always welcome and delicious. but then years into my adulthood i started hearing the word cantaloupe and before i knew it, everyone was saying cantaloupe while i was thinking muskmelon. are there any other muskmelon eaters out there? or were you raised on cantaloupe?

In my country these two are different although the taste is almost same.
Cantaloupe is round shaped with rough skin.the top skin looks like threads are attached in Zigzag manner.
While musk melon is oval shaped with smooth skin, yellow in colour.In some variety There are green stripes.

thank you. i've not heard that before. where i am there only seems to be cantaloupe now.
