i am 100% sure that it would not affect anything under your skin specially your precious internal organs. why i said so, it's because your skin will be burned before it affects your internal organs. with that sense alone, you area already avoiding further harm to your skin before anything gets worse under it, right? the main point is, if you directly place it on your chest or abdomen, these areas have thick layers of skin, specially the abdomen, so it can create damage first on your skin before the internal organs. but that won't happen anymore co i know you'll gonna remove those heating pads/gels when it starts to get real hot on there, right?
and the appropriate application of heating pads/gels, you should wrapped it with cloth (not so much think though and not thin as well) before applying in on which ever part of your skin and NOT directly on your skin.

Thank you for your priceless contribution. It means the heating sensation could not get into your organs if i understand, therefore if you feel a burning sensation inside there it means there's something wrong somewhere.Apart from the thick layers of the skin that protect the internal organs
,what else protect the organs from external threats.

that's nothing as long as it could help someone.
actually it could, if you really wanted it to but before it can cause damage to your internal organ, it already caused a whole lot of burns on your skin. and that i don't think would happen if you have an intact sensory nerves on your skin. it is a normal reflex of human beings to retract what it is that could cause harm to our body and even to our skin itself.
i believe there's none anymore that could protect it aside from the bones on your chest that could protect some resistance from any impact.
