Breastfeeding older children?

Hi,i was wondering what you think about this?I saw on you tube a video of a woman who breastfeeds her almost 8 yr old daughter and breastfed her older daughter till she was 5 ?I was very surprised by this,the woman who is not american btw said children should decide when they are ready to stop breastfeeding?I have always thought most women stop breastfeeding around 9 moths or 1 yr?What do you think about this?I just think if a child is old enough to ask for breastfeeding that they are too old period and i did not know this but,the video also stated breast milk will continue to be in the breast as long as it is being used.
