No i don't blame the teachers, I feel everyone is different and everyone reaches the want to learn at different stages, I didn't reach this until I was in my twenties, nothing I did when i was at school would make me retain what they were trying to teach me...

Well, the Ron Clark Story was just one of the success stories of being a teacher and a mentor. How ever it isn't the case for all, the teachers can only do so much. There are a lot of other factors out there that can affect how students learn and act. There's family, there's friends, and there's environment. The least the teachers can do it to try and help them realize what's right and what they need to learn. They have no control over some of the other factors.

And sometimes, it could really not be a choice for anyone. There would always be some kids who are mentally challenged and will learn slowly compared to others. The teachers can only adapt specific methods but it won't always be successful.

yeah, lots of factor can influnce a student's academic life, that's true. i mean some of the teachers, u know i'm a teacher too, some of the teachers only care about what or how much he/she can earn, care about what they teach, not not the teaching strategies, not care about the students, not know the different personalities of various students, if u know the multi-intelligence thoery...lol
just some of the teachers, i do know most of teachers word hard to teach students

Yeah, sad to say there may be some or a few teachers out there who are teaching for the purpose of just having a profession and earn. I really admire teachers who really do their jobs for the kids. happy I am not familiar with how the multi-intelligence theory works though. I may have run across it somewhere but I have no clue. lol I admire the teaching profession. I'd love to teach someday as well although my field of study isn't education and more on technology. See 'ya!

I don't believe there are bad students or bad teachers. I believe it is all in a matter of who can handle the different types of students there are and their method of learning needed, and which students can adapt to certain teachings put in place. It's more psychological than anything.

I had both teachers that i admired for their diligence and those I even doubt if I will believe.
I can say that good teachers can help change a bad student or a slow learner. Excellent teachers have the capacity to inspire and push students to appreciate learning. one example is a a blind and deaf child like H. Keller be led to appreciate life with the help of an able teacher Ms. Sullivan.
But then as I witness, some students maybe just as bad as they choose. It just happens that most students are thought of to be young and be guided in every single way, but since most teachers would handle many different students at a time, they can't be 100% focused on each personality and ability of his students. If she's doing her job diligently, and the students don't learn, I guess it's not her fault.

I think that the teachers do make a big difference. We had a teacher at my kids school this year that really did not quite have his groove on for teaching yet. And so many of the students actually failed his class. And these were kids that usually got good grades. My daughter even failed one quarter and she is on the A Honor Roll most of the time. So I think his teaching methods left something to be desired.

Teachers have got to want to teach and students have got to want to learn.

I partly agree with you that teachers also make a contribution to the performance of a student but it's not only the teacher's fault but also the student's. Think of this, when the teacher of a certain subject is good but the student dislikes studying, the student cannot further his studies because he doesn't want to study but of the teacher is bad but the student loves studying, he can learn something because he studies, but a student who loves studying having a teacher who is very good in teaching is the perfect match.

I never failed a class because I didn't like the teacher. Therefore every situation does not work for every student.

I think parents play the biggest role in education. What a child goes through the 1st six years is the most important. The parents should work with their children during the early years to create an interest in learning.

I know a girl with a 5 year old kid. One day I was going to play the ABCs on my guitar while he sang along to entertain him. I soon found out. He couldn't count to 10 nor could he say the ABCs. I asked "Why not?" She replied "I'm letting him be a kid until he has to go to kindergarten next year. The teachers can teach him that." I thought to myself WTF? The kid had no interest to learn either. Is it going to be the teacher's fault when this kid holds the rest of the class back.

Because of 1 parent the whole class will learn less. Is that the teacher's fault?

People need to take responsibility for their children and stop blaming the teachers for everything. Teachers are only partially responsible.

I am sure there are bad teachers. In college I had an Economics teacher. What he said in class wouldn't be on the test. It wasn't in the book either. It was like the guy just made up stuff. No one had a clue what was going on. But if you do the work you will pass even if you get 50s on all of the tests.

YES YES YES
When i was a student, i used to be a good-bad student in teachers' eyes, but they could do nothing with me as long as my grades remained within top 5 in my class even though i talk in class, made fun of classmates i dislike, mocking some teachers and created all kinds of vivid nicknames for teachers. But teachers loved me only because they thought i was clever and my marks satisfied them.

while for other kids who could not do their math problems correctly and got a poor mark, even they stayed quiet in class, they were still slow boys and girls. For those who not only bad at study but noisy, they got their name as "bad boys and girls". They weren't bad at heart, they just didn't show their talent at math or history or other school subjects.

Anyway, it is teachers that make the wrong judegement and don't give them an equal chance!
