Genetic Modification is a new trend in out technology by scientist and experts. As the term implies, there is the involvement of genetic engineering that is to screen the best crops produced nowadays and get genes from for the purpose of reproduction of the same kind. So do not be surprised if one day you will see an apple in the market as sized of a pumpkin. It is very predictable in the future that our fruits and vegetables be harvested from glasshouses and are all GMOs (genetically modified organism). Do you have any idea on how safe it is to eat GMOs?

Nature is always friendly for the man. All the hazzards occur when we go against the nature. Genetically engineered plants means their DNA constituent is manipulated. So naturally its now natural plus man made thing. Its an hybrid..
Now see, so far the results are okay, and it looks like safe. I shouldn't be pessimist but one day as we manuplate these plants, the plants will surely gonna produce such chemicals, substances that apparently do not look like harming us. but they will do. because we are doing against the nature..
I believe, plants are benefit for us and let them be good for us by not manipulating them. let the original survives. As it is said Old is Gold.
But thats only my views

very well explained! anything that has been manipulated comes to the point that in a way goes out of control. however, we have to deal with the current trend in technology since most of our available edible resources are GMOs. thanks for sharing!

Just food for thought....
The Bible, and I'm sure the Torah, The Koran, and most major religions books say NO!
This is LONG before we developed the technology to do so - What do you think?

We can be assured of the safety of GMOs because they are grown in a controlled environment and would require lots of safety tests before approval. However, by tests, I mean short-term tests. There aren't really tests to date that studies the effects of GMO on its consumers.

Genetically modified food seems to bring us more convenience because it enables growers to get a bigger amount of crops, and consumers to have more variety in purchases. I have read lots of articles before on this topic and can make a conclusion that such food has proven to have no side effects on the human organism now, but the future biological reactions are not known to the scientists (nor bad neither good). And they cannot be known until some time passes and the influence can be learned. Genetic nature of such invention complicates the way we are to treat it because such changes cannot be observed immediately.
In most of the developed countries this food is already in the market. But let's remember how it happened before in many such countries: when there were still no legal requirements that obliged producers to make a notice on the package of GM food, they preferred not to put it into ingredients sections. Because producers as well try to be careful with it.
