Have you ever had someone fart in public while you were there, and then carry on as if nothing had happened?
Do you think that this is ignorant and rude, or, is it now an acceptable part of modern society?

Well, I think this is really rude as not a lot of people simply push it aside. It is somewhat unsanitary as it is waste in a form of gas. However, most of the time, it's uncontrollable especially when somebody has an upset stomach or has been trying to keep it in for a while. And most of the time, it catches us off guard.
sometimes people play around and fart intentionally.
Well, I've encountered this at malls and public places. I just hate it when the one who did it reacts when I try to cover my nose. I've seen a few who might have taken offense. They have a look which is sort of a combination of being angry and shy. Good thing no one approach me though. I would just say, why, are you kidding? you want me to smell it all in?

ahahah! that's totally understandable. Yeah, it's true. It's the perfect moment to worry. It's messy but real funny.

Hehe i don't think farting ever stops being funny, no matter how old you get! I once went on a date with a guy, who was good looking, funny and generally really nice,v half way through our meal there was a very strong fart smell, it was a very small restaurant and we were the only people there so it had to be one of us who had farted, and i knew it wasn't me! I tried to carry on as normal but couldn't help but comment, so i asked him, have you just farted?! he denied it and tried to blame me! i found it all rather funny! i think farting in public is quite rude, but it is a natural bodily function and people can't really help it! So, i think it's best not to fart in public if at all possible but if it does happen then it's ok to see the funny side - everyone is a little childish sometimes!

Hey Munchkin,
You are a girl after my own heart. I reckon a dam good fart is just what the doctor ordered - when you need one that is!
I wish I had the guts (no punn intended) to fart in public, just for the mischief of it.

First of all I can't believe that I am responding to a discussion about farting! I don't think its acceptable to fart in public, but sometimes it can't be helped. I think that if a person that farted chooses not to acknowledge it, it is because that person is probably embarrased and hoped nobody noticed. It just depends on where you are. If you are with friends, then by all means say "I'm sorry". Everyone farts - its a fact of life. How you choose to handle it is up to you.

Hello bmorehouse,
Fair comment you make. I think that because farting is natural, and extremely forcefull at times, it gives us all that dilemma of 'if and when' to do one. Of course, it can be turned into mischief by folks, but if that's all we do wrong, then hey! - live and let fart I say!
Thanks for your reply,

I dont think it will ever catch on, cos most would be too embarrassed to use it. I would laugh my head off whenever someone walked in there, haha your gonna go and paaaarrrrp, it would never get used!
I say better to fart and smell a little than keep it in and feel a cripple.

Thanks for the response Hayley,
I love your last little 'ditty'. Trouble is, farting is such a taboo subject to many people. Can't blame them ... its only good manners to 'keep it in', so I was taught, and I suppose it can be a little anti-social in certain situations.
But, given that its harmless and natural, I say "Wherever you may be ... let your wind blow free"!
Take care, and thanks again.
