An hour ago, my boyfriend and I went down from our apartment to check our mail box. To our surprise, we saw a little girl aged 2-3 years old inside the lift. She was alone! There were only three of us in the lift. We tried to ask her in English where was she going to but she replied us in Arab. We could not understand. We just could not leave her alone in the lift. So we tried out luck,I recalled the last floor which the lift stopped at and brought the kid back. Luckily, her parents were waiting there for her. I wondered why they could be so careless to leave their child behind before they get out from the lift. What do you think? Did you experience of leaving your child at somewhere else? Please share, thanks.

Hi again yenwie. That is a really nice thing that you and your boyfriend did. Shame on the parents! In the United States that would be a form of neglect and the parents could have gotten in alot of trouble. It is very dangerous to leave a child that age unattended, at least it is here. They can be snatched up, hurt, or worse. This could have been an extremely bad situation if you hadn't have brought her back to her parents.

yenwie- That's thinking on your feet! I don't think I would have thought of your solution. I feel sick when I see children unattended. Don't parents care anymore? Yesterday I watched a kid roller blading on a the twisty curvy street that leads to my apartment. Cars cross the line all the time because the road is so narrow. Where was his mother? One day, I saw a four year old girl playing in a field all alone. Where were those parents? I wondered about what that little girl would think of who she was, that her parents didn't even care enough to watch her. On the light side- my parents deny this, but we had five children in our family. I remember getting left behind on the elevator at Staten Island because they forgot about me! It's funny because I know it wasn't neglect. I think they were so overwhelmed, they didn't count heads. I never took my eyes off my children as they were growing up. I have heard stories of kids in car seats getting left in the car and the parents not noticing right away, because life is so hectic and confusing. It's not always fair to judge a parent, or anyone, but clear cases of neglect break my heart.

I seriously think that is a dangerious thing for a child of that age and for the parents not to be monitering the child at all times. It's a good thing you two were there to get her back to her parents sfely good job. I would never leave my child that young unattended like they did. A child that young dosn't know any better and needs guidence from an adult. Hopefully they watch the child more closely next time.
