This summer a quartet I sing with at Church was almost dissolved when our bass became too busy to participate. One of the other guys had a friend from South Africa visiting for a couple of months and he filled it. We had a great time discussing his life and environment and I found it fascinating.

The people are beautiful and childlike for the most part and that is part of the problem.
By all rights, Africa should be a wonderfully prosperous nation with a bright future.I would like to see our government get off its butt and lend a helping hand.Not a hand out and not another war.

The people of Africa are not childlike, they are misguided, misinformed and sometime helpless. The Western Powers are the main one profiting from Africa's richness and it's killing and disabling many African nation. This is just another form of genocide. Yes, you are right, Africa does not need another hand out and war created by Western Powers. Unfortunately, these are exactly the strategies used by Western Powers to rob Africa's richness. Conflicts are created to ease the way for Western Powers to dig in the rich soils and then they return to give hand outs after the wars_the good guys. | |

The "helping hand" that I mentioned would be education, quality healthcare and to stop raping the land.
I believe that Africa wants to be a wonderful,powerful nation and has the potential to be. She just needs a little help to get there.
Unfortunatley, I do not see that help comimg anytime soon and it's a real shame. | |

| jfa626 (15) | 4 years ago | You're right, everybody are making profit from Africa's rich soil and resources except the people of Africa...it's more political and greed than anything else and we have a long way to go...unfortunately anybody who tries to go against the force is labeled a "terrorist" and the ugly truth about the raping of Africa's land remains oblivious or ignored by the media. It's a high price to pay for anyone to stand up completely...take a look at the Election going on the Congo (DRC) as an example...We have the Western Powers trying to impose an illegitimate president who's not even a Citizen of the country who refused to have a presidential debate (because he can't even speak the language that well, first of all) and has a salary of $400k a month...there are cheating, misleading and treats going on just so that he can win! This is why I disagree with the "childlike" comment because you have to take a closer look and see that the situation is much deeper and dangerous. | |

There's always a program on TV, trying to get everyone to sponser a child there. So it seems like Africa is a poor, undeveloped country. And I've heard that a 2/3 people in Africa is suffering from Aids.

It is also unfortunately the only continent that is entirely Third World. All states are Third world. It is the poorest continent. Poor people get exploited by the rich and get poorer. Global warming is making its mark in a very big way especially due to the fact that this is an agricultural continent more than enaything else. There are much to say about some states within this continent, both good and very bad and ugly.
