I am looking to buy a laptop but I don't have a whole lot of money to spend. The highest I think I could go is $700 but I would really like to get one around $500. I am getting ready to start schooling and I am going to be learning about computers. My major is computer programming. The schooling is mostly at home and I will still be living at home. We only have one computer at the house and I can just use that one for the first couple of months but I have limited time on this computer because there are three other people in the house that use it. So thats a big reason I would like to get one. I think it would help a lot. So can anyone give me any suggestions or tips on buying them. I appreciate it.

Yes go to ebay. I've never bought laptops from ebay though but I really get huge discounts there when I bought brand-new digital cameras. When I went to the malls to see how much it costs in the malls, I say those from ebay were less expensive. Find a seller that has no negative feedback...i.e. 100%. Read feedbacks from other buyers.

One word: eBay. The bidding's a bit fierce, and I'd recommend going for the ones with high amounts of positive feedback, but you'll find dozens of decent second hand laptops on there. It took me about a week to pick one up for the equivalent of $150, not the best spec, but plenty if you're not going to be running any high-end 3D games. Had it about a year now, and never had a problem with it.
