Have you seen standing eggs before? I have made it!

I think during normal day, it's not so easy to do it. But when it's during the dumpling festival of lunar calendar, you can make the eggs stand easily. The photo was actually taken on 8th of June 2008. So you might need to wait for the dumpling festival of next year (it falls on 2009 May 28th), to try it out again. Glad that you have made it too. It's so amazing isn't it? It's not easy for the first one, because I am not familiar and totally have no idea how to make an egg stand. But being driven by curiosity, I have made the 1st one standing and I am so elated seeing it. Then the 2nd and third one becomes easier, fueled by the confidence of the first success. Yeah, I always like to try new thing and also to challenge myself as well. I would feel extremely excited and elated if I could defeat anything which many thought that it is difficult to achieve.

I totally agree with you, after to stand the first egg successfully we then got the tip to make the rest of the eggs to stand upright easily. I still couldn’t find the photos of my standing eggs in the gallery in computer anyway. Thought the golden period is over, I still want to try to see whether I could make an egg to stand vertically after this period. If I could I surely would take the photo of it and share it with you.

I like challenges and also like to impress people by achieving something which is looks impossible. I think share some character commonalities in this. I am not sure after the dumpling festival, the eggs can still be standing anymore, because I don't have chance at all to give it a try again. I hope you finally have found the eggs picture that you are looking for. So that other mylotters could enjoy seeing the amazing phenomena. Confidence and believe is one of the important factor in making an egg stand upright. Some of friends have doubts in it, and he is not skillful too, so he failed to do it and claimed that it's not true.

Yesterday I had tried twice, each time I spent about 10 minutes but still couldn’t make the egg to stand upright so I gave up.

This evening I tried again and it’s really amazing the egg could stand vertically on the table. Hurrah...I had just spent less than 5 minutes to make it stand upright on the table. So I believe the egg could stand upright on the level table not specifically during dumpling festival only.

Wow, it's great that you made it again. And, this proves that, the egg will still stand, even if it's not on the dumpling festival day. I think not many people find out about it. Even our ancestors just do it on the day of dumpling festival, so that's why all of us just assume it's only possible on this specific date. The media also report the same thing on that particular date too. I think it's because not many people are interesting in doing this and prove it's right. Thanks for sharing the photo, this really serves as the prove!

I believe the egg could stand upright only if we hold it vertically for a while and let the surface of the fluid content inside it to stay steadily at its level. It then won’t tend to fall to any side. If we could wait patiently until it is in equilibrium then it would be most probably that it won’t fall down anymore, we then could let go our hands slowly.

I’m really happy today as I made another egg to stand vertically again within 3 seconds. This was the third trial and I successfully achieved it. I felt really amazed as I had got it in such a short moment. So this proved that we could make an egg standing at anytime but not during the dumpling festival only. You could try it out yourself at your leisure. It’s really interesting.

That's really amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have time to verify your amazing discovery. It's not because I don't have the time to make the egg stand, but it's because I have finished up all my stock (the eggs in the fridge). I am staying alone and usually having meals outside and cook very seldom. So I usually do not keep eggs in the fridge for too long. And it's a waste to throw the expired eggs away. I don't have much time go shopping and buy a dozen of eggs back for this experiment again. Even if I got time, I am so forgetful to buy the eggs when I happened to be at the market. It's probable that you had discovered what others didn't notice. The eggs could also be made standing vertically even it's not on the dumpling festival day.

It’s true that we shouldn’t totally believe what we have read from the newspaper or was told by others. We must be more scientific minded and believe in discovery method or experiment. I believe it would be quite interesting and challenging if a competition is held to see who could make more eggs to stand vertically in the fit period. Or this competition would be pretty cool if to be held during dumpling festival day so as to boost the atmosphere of the festival high and cheerful.

lkbooi is right about the scientific spirit of discovering the truth without believing blindly on what others told us. It's true that most of what others people told us true, but some might not. Because some of them didn't find it out themselves, but just tell us what people told them too!

Hi Williamjisir, I am surprised to know that you had tried it when you are young too. May be I am ignorant about such culture until my friend told me about 1 year ago . But any how, I enjoyed the fun of making eggs standing vertically during dumpling festival. I believe our friend lkbooi had found out that the eggs could be made standing even it's not on dumpling festival. Could it possibly because our country is near to the tropical region?
