Power of prayer vs Good Karma

My mother taught me at a very young age, that you can always turn to the Lord in prayer about everything. I remember during a sermon at the baptist church our pastor saying that you should always be talking with the Lord and thanking the savior for everything in your life, otherwise when you "Go to the well in prayer over something, the well will be empty. In nursing school, I spoke with a wonderful christian girl, who felt that this is not the case, that the Lord loves us unconditionally, and that prayer is understood and answered, no matter what kind of christian you have been. However, I have always found two things to be true, from my own experience: #1. No matter what is going on in my life, just the little whispered prayer at night makes things easier. Not just imagined. Small things seem to improve, without my controlling them. #2. This one is a little more confusing, but I believe good deeds are rewarded, and I sometimes HOPE that bad deeds or bad Karma will come back to bite people in the proverbial butt. But I firmly believe that when I was caring for the elderly, and held their hands, and kissed their cheeks, that when the Multiple Sclerosis takes away my ability to walk, or see, or use the bathroom independently, that there will be angels in disguise to pay back the little good things that I have done in my life. I will be interested to know what other people believe, so it can be put in a different perspective, and possibly become a more enlightened person.

Your mother is a wise woman and I'm happy to find this so I can tell a story about something that happened the other day at work. I'm an activities director at a nursing home. One day we were playing Bingo and one woman who is very emotional cried every time a number was called and she didn't have it. She said she wanted to quit, I told her she couldn't quit that since I knew she believed in God, she might try praying. She said "I can't, you pray". So I said "Please Jesus help J. win at Bingo". About 2 numbers later she won. I have had many, many little prayers like this answered. And yes, what goes around comes around, I have seen that happen time and time again as well as had it happen to me. I also believe that by being loving and compassionate to my nursing home family will also put compassionate people in my life if I one day need them. If not, it sure feels great to help brighten and show love in someones last days.

Yes prayer is powerful indeed. I experienced it in my own life whenever we have trouble in our community, I call on Jesus for help and I receive help from Him whenever I call on His name.
