What do you think about kissing children on the lips?

I have hang ups about it I guess. I hated it when my parents would want to kiss me on the lips, it was so gross and even sickening to me. Of course they were physically abusive so maybe that is part of the reason I hated it.
I got the idea to ask this question from another post that asked where you kiss your children but I am being specific here, how do you feel about kissing children of any age on the lips?
I am not saying it is wrong or anything like that but I just wonder, how do others feel about kissing children on the lips?

I don't see anything wrong with it. I was kissed that way as a child by both my mother and stepfather. Now as a parent it's how I kiss my stepdaughter. It just shows them your love for them which children always seem to be needing. Now with the adult stepsons I have I don't kiss them anymore but I do hug them. I don't think as adults they need me to show them how much I love them anymore

Hi horsesrule! I don't see anything bad with kissing our kids on their lips. As long as our lips is clean (to avoid transfer of bacteria, a hygienic thing) and we are not suffering from any communicable disease, we can kiss them on their lips. It is just one way of expressing our love for them, a smack on their lips.

I dont think there is anything wrong with it at all..I have two kids of my own and they kiss me on the lips all the time....also the tip of my nose, my cheek and my forhead when I'm sick LOL..HOWEVER I wouldnt kiss anyone elses child on the lips..but my own kids..sure why not?

Actually I haven't really thought of that before, but now that I think about it I never do kiss my grandchildren on the lips it's always on the cheek.

My kids and grandkids all give me a quick smack on the lips.
Our family has always kissed on the lips.
My x's family does also. When the cousins come to town we all kiss each other.
We are all kissing and hugging...that's how we are.

I dont kiss my kids on the lips.I kiss them on the cheeks.My mother-n-law does that it makes me so irrated as she knows I dont kiss them on the lips so why should she?.I guess some people do that and that is their decision but I just dont do that .
