I think the best dog is a miniature dachsund ... they have black, brown, mahogany red, smooth haired, wire haired, and long hair choices. I had a mini dixie, mahogany red and smooth haired. His name was Oscar and he was so loyal and protective ... a very good watch dog. They may be small but they are mighty ... they don't scare easily. My wiener dog followed me all around without a leash. They are clownish, loves kids, they are lap dogs and loved to lick your face! My dog was s happy when I came home! I posted some pictures on my profile of dachsunds if you would like to check them out. Good Luck!

She is an Australian Shepherd and she has been SO loyal to me, and she loooooves to lick! Especially when I get done working out and I'm all sweaty. She will basically give me a shower if I let her, gross huh?! I had another Aussie when I was growing up and she was equally as affection. I think it's definitely something in the breed. But I think any kind of dog you get, no matter the breed can be affectionate just the way you want it. It just depends on how socializing you are with it when it is a little puppy. The more love and affection you show it when it's in weeks of age, the more it will turn to you for loyalty and affection.
