New discussions I started

Over the last couple of days I started 3 discussions, and i found it funny the amount of responses that i got out of the 3. One was about working smoke alarms, one was for do you own or rent, and one was what time do you get up.
Out of the 3 I got 51 responses for own or rent, 78 responses for what time do you get up and only 11 responses for working fire alarms.
What seemed funny to me is with only 11 responses to the smoke detectors, I feel people didn't see it as important as a topic on mylot. This would be one of the most important topics I would think would of gotten the most replies too. It only takes a second for your house to be engulfed in fire.
It amazes me on here how people take to one discussion over the other. How do you chose which discussions to reply to, do you go down the list of discussions, or do you pick out certain ones, interests to you, only answer ones from your friends list, what makes a topic attract you.

Perhaps some of the ones who responded to the discussion about getting up didn't get the discussion on the smoke alarms. Now if they are on your friend list they should have gotten both. I remember responding to the smoke alarm discussion, but I don't even remember you posting about what time people got up. Sometimes if the discussion is on top discussions or hot discussions, it gets more 'coverage' than the other one.

I usually dont respond to posts that already have over 50 reponses as I feel no one is going to be reading them I see alot of people do though. I did respond to your discussions about working smoke alarmas as I feel that they are very important to keep our family safe maybe you will get some more responses to it after posting this stay safe and check your smoke alarm batteries.

Thank you for your reply, yes my idea of the post was to remind people to go check their batteries in their smoke alarms, to me that is the one thing we all need to remember, funny how I knew ours was working but never other than something on the stove when cooking did I ever her it go off, I just took it for granted that it was there, now I know how important they really are in life.

Hi bdugas,
I am responding to my notifications so 95% of the post I am responding are my friends topic..It may be about life, friends, job etc..Then if I still have time, I will hangout in top discussions and from there will pick up any topic that will catch my attention!
The topic must be within my interest, life,people,heath or a new learning!
People have different options really!

I only respond to my firends discussions that I get in my email from mylot, like yours, and the mylot digest discussions that also come into my email. So I go through each one and I only respond to the ones that catch my interest. A discussion about fire alarms would be interesting but there would probably be nothing more for me to add to it, so I would probably not respond to it. The other two discussions I could relate to and would not have to think as hard about what to say in my response. Like this one is easy to respond to without too much thought.
I do say congratulations on all of those responses to them. I am happy and lucky if I get 10 responses to each of my discussions. But I did start a few discussions the other day and some of them have over 20 responses and some close to 20, and I am flabergasted I have that many. I am finding that the last few days that there are more members being active in mylot, or at least more of my friends are active again. I am seeing responses from friends on my list, that I haven;t seen or heard from in the last 3 months. I hadn't seen you around a whole lot the last little while, until recently. I'm not sure how long you and I have been on each other's friends list but I don't remember seeing you around mylot 3 months ago.

It is strange isn't some of my more serious discussions will only get a few responses and yet others will get many. I suppose it really depends on who is online on that particular day too and who gets to see it. I personally will go through and try to answer as many from my friends list that I can, some are subjects I do not know about. I will then try to respond to any responses and then I will go into other discussions. I always try to answer from a few new users each day too to give encouragemnt. Ellie :D
