These days everyone is talking about the price of everything goiung up and needing to get out of debt and save money. My hubby has always been a penny pincher and it really has rubbed off on me and I'm trying to learn new tricks to making our dollars go farther. This is where you come in. Here is your chance to teach other myloter's a few new tricks and show of your penny pinching skills.
I'll start the ball rolling and then let's see what you have.
Groceries this is one of the biggest bills for a lot of people and is the one that you can't just turn off.
So I work from a menu (I make them up for the whole month) then build my shopping list from there. We look for the specials at Apollo Meats (a local meat market that does great bulk buy deals with no memberships to pay for). Then I try to keep the little store runs down to only twice a week for things that go bad too fast to buy in bulk (milk, cheese, friuts) I know every run not only burns gas but tends to lead to extra spending. We've all done it went in for milk and eggs and came out with half the store. I also turn a blind eye to the impulse buy items at the register.
Here's a big tip... in big stores like Walmart you will find the same item in several different sections of the store at different prices. Crafters especially should look around before buying something. I found a bead organizer that looked a lot like a tackle box for $11 in the craft department, went to fishing and found the same thing (actually a little strong version) for $7.
I saved $4 buy walking maybe 20 feet.
O.k. your turn.
