Watching The Clock While Ebaying |
As I write this I'm back and forth at ebay...watching the clock..now that I have some extra cash to burn since I have that IRS Check issue resolved, I plan to do a little splurging on myself...something I haven't done in ages...there are a number of home improvement things I want to do, like get new floor tiles for my kitchen, heck might even paint up the place a bit. But besides some very practical things that I really need (like a new bed and mattress) I WANT TO HAVE SOME FUN with the money. There have been a few DVDs I've been dying to get...like Louise Hay's You Can Heal Yourself DVD, and James Arthur Ray's Harmonic Wealth...and some fun ones like Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.... Anyway...I came across the You Can Heal Your Life DVD at ebay...for a real steal...there's only about fifteen more minutes left for bidding but I haven't bid YET...I'm watching the clock to when it gets down to the last few minutes then bid..I've done this before and it almost guarantees me to win it. So to turn this into a discussion...if you bid at ebay, do you do the same thing? Wait until the last final minutes before bidding? Did you get any bargains that way? Uh, excuse me now...got to go back to ebay...LOL

1. Goodie123 (7274) | 4 months ago | I do not buy on ebay anymore Pye. Hubby does, and he sits there watching the clock, For those last few minutes to come around, he waits until there is like 30 seconds left. And guess what, He always stuffs up and loses because he left it too long to bid. hehehehe I keep telling him he is doing it wrong but NO being a male he knows it all.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | Hehe...well he's obviously doing his strategy wrong....hehe...cause I just won the DVD and it's the extended version to boot and won it for only $15.99 total with shipping...normal cost of that DVD is $29.95..so think I got a bargain there...mmm...now to hunt for something else..LOL (OH--PS---was looking at beds all day long and think I found one I like...I hunted two different places..one place sold it for $100 MORE than Target...can you believe that?)
| |
Goodie123 (7274) | 4 months ago | some people go overboard when bidding and think they are getting a bargin.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | I just bid the very minimum...sometimes only adding .50ยข more...LOL. I got real lucky some years ago with ebay. I still have my great-grandmother's old mustard seed pendant that I had been wearing all the time..it's ancient...it's one mustard seed in like a bubble glass type seal..anyway one day to my dismay, I discovered..oh, no...the mustard seed had disintegrated inside. It made me feel bad as number one it's one of the few things I have left of my great-grandmother's and I had always considered it lucky. So thought to myself...okay maybe one day I'll get a new one. So one day I'm doing a search and they do still have them...but at least $50 or more..then something told me to look over at ebay..I couldn't believe it! It was the exact same one by the same company, Caro. I guess the seller was getting rid of a lot of old jewelry that she didn't want anymore..so placed a bid..I won it...and it only cost me ..snicker, snicker...$5.99...

Goodie123 (7274) | 4 months ago | "snicker, snicker" alright $5.99 can't beat that.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | Don't worry, I'm not going to go haywire here...I was looking at beds over there..crap they're MORE....so stick with ordering the one from Target-FREE shipping an no sales tax, while the ebay ones charge like $200 for shipping the bed..YIKES. No it's funny, now that I do have money, while I want to splurge I've gotten cheap and cautious...LOL All the more why I'm hunting for real bargains

2. sumofalltears (2592) | 4 months ago | I don't buy anything on ebay except maybe some dvds on occasion, but they are always too expensive. The sellers always add huge shipping charges and it is so not worth it, especially for used dvds. I seldom ever go into e bay for anything....and people can get addicted to it.
| |
| |
pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | The shipping charge was only $2.99 which I thought was reasonable...I won the DVD I was watching..a total of $15.99 with shipping....it normally sells for $29.95..this is a new copy not used also

BarBaraPrz (1647) | 4 months ago | I agree with sumof that the shipping costs often makes a "deal" no deal at all. After bidding on a few keyboards and not getting anywhere, I finally used the "buy it now" feature because the ones I had been bidding on hadn't gone for any less than full price, anyway. And when shipping was added, it was the same as retail! But I wanted to use the "free" money in my PayPal account, so I bought it anyway. (Plus, I wanted the Apple keyboard before the flat one.)

3. Transdisc (16008) | 4 months ago | Hello pye:) I hesitate to respond so that I don't distract you from your ebay stakeout. I have tried that method of watching the ebay clock and I have never had any success in it. Others always manage to get a bid in literally at the last second. I hope that you have more luck than I have had.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | well luck was with me..I did win it. This is the extended 2-disc version that normally sells for $29.95..WITH shipping costs it's only $15.99...not bad, huh? Now...to find something else...hehe

5. scarlet2000 (894) | 4 months ago | I also watch the clock while ebaying but it's not for bidding. I sell on ebay and if I have something listed that has no bids I'm always hoping someone will bid at the last minute. There are some really great buys on ebay. Hope you enjoy your dvd. I have to go and check an auction that is ending in a few minutes.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | LOL--so we're both watching the clock...hope you get a sale. I tried selling my crafts there but didn't have a nibble...and the killer is all those dang fees...it can add up after awhile so kind of gave up selling there.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | Yup, I won it, and I thought at a real bargain. A few others must have been doing the same thing and watching the clock as I kept getting outbid too, but then would re-bid..not much more though..The full regular cost of the DVD, and this is the 2-disc extended version goes for $29.95...I won it for $15.99 with shipping, a nice bargain I thought!

7. sedel1027 (12049) | 4 months ago | I like to bid on items when I see them, that way I can't forget and go back. I figure out the max I want to spend - including shipping - and bid that. If I don't win, oh well! I have been hitting ebay for school shorts for my son and making out like a thief! I don't think a lot of people are school shopping just yet for uniforms.

pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | Glad to hear you're getting some bargains like crazy for your son's school clothes...I could also stand to hunt around for printing ink for my printer...I got a REAL bargain many months ago...about $15.00 cheaper all total from what the ink cartridges would have normally cost me

I haven't bid anything yet on ebay but my friends have done the same thing that you are doing, that is to wait for the last minute before bid ends. Most of the times, they win. Take care and God Bless!

9. Vladilyich1 (793) | 4 months ago | That's exactly what the "power bidders" do. I've been outbid with 30 seconds to go before. BTW. 10. missbdoll (921) | 4 months ago | Often I bid earlier, but not the max I'm prepared to pay, then I'll go back when it gets really close.I used to even get up in the midle of the night sometimes because of the time deiierence. One of the last things I bought I had bid on early and was the only bidder but was going to be out when it eneded, so I went and put more of before I went out, but came home to find I'd got it for my first bid. What a bargain.
| |
| |
pyewacket (8755) | 4 months ago | I've never bidded on something early..sometimes if it's a very popular item to bid early when there aren't any bids on it yet, kind of calls attention to that item all of a sudden and you find you're being outbid...so I lurk instead and wait it out till the last few minutes...heher
