Women who have ovarian cyst issues...

Please tell me your experience? I would appreciate it very much. I have had ovarian cysts since I was 20 (I am 26 now), and as the usual treatment goes these days, I'm on birth control. The thing is, in the last 8 months, despite birth control (and initially the dreaded Vicodin for the pain of the first enormous cyst to burst), I have still had a couple of ruptured cysts. I get pain a few times a month, but I wonder if that's scar tissue? I need answers from women who have had similar stuff happen. Eventually I wouldn't even mind having the left ovary taken out to avoid future issues. I have a good gynecologist who is sympathetic and alert, but I would feel better hearing from other women with chronic ovarian cysts.

I started having pain around my overies around 16 or 17. I would go to the docrtor and they couldnt find anything. The pain would be very intense sometimes and couldnt stand anything to touch me. I was very scared inside because I knew the pain was real and somethng was causing it. Finally in my twentys at my yearly exam the doctor notised cysts on my overies. He had me come back in a couple of weeks and the cysts were gone. He said ovarin cysts will do that. That why it took so long to find the problem. In my middle thirtys I had a tubal pregnancy hen they went in my ovarie on my right side wasso full of cysts they had to take it out. Sometimes the pain you have is you are feeling the egg ripen and releasing. I would get that once a month. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and God bless.

Thank you for your response. Ouch, a tubal pregnancy...that must have been very scary and painful. When you initially had the issue, were they doing ultrasound to find them yet? Every time I go to find the cause of pain, they mark it off as "resolved cyst" because by the time the appointment happens, the cysts burst and all they find is fluid or nothing. Last time, it was a Friday, the gyno FELT a big cyst during the speculum exam, but come Monday and the ultrasound, all they could view was a load of cloudy stuff in there. I have had so many ultrasounds related to cysts I am getting good at reading them. Right now my gyno has me on three months of birth control pills at once with no placebos, followed by a week of placebo to have my period four times a year instead. There's still plenty of occasional pain. I am starting to get cynical and would rather lose the ovary. Just take the stupid thing out, the right side one doesn't cause any pain. I know there's normal ovulation pain but I get that pain or similar a few times a month or more. When you got the ovary out did the pain stop?
