Drugs and Alcohol?

Well, I don't think alcohol is as dangerous as drugs, at least not in small quantities. It won't get you addicted if you can control your intake. But drugs are a different thing altogether. The addiction doesn't depend upon your mind at all. It just takes such a grip upon your body system, particularly upon the nervous system, that you'll simply have to take them again to stabilize your body. Withdrawal is a much more painful process in the case of drugs than alcohol because your body will have developed a physical dependence towards it.

Actually blood, they do and they don't. Alchohol is a drug. They
teach that in rehab. I should know. I've been going to a day
outpatient rehab for 1 year and now I am in the night clinic
which is the after care program from the day rehab. That is
the first thing that they teach. We are taught Narcotic
Anonymous and Alchoholics Anonymous. They do separate them I
think because some people just drink. Most people do both so
in the rehab program we have AA and NA meetings. There are
sponsers from both groups that come in on different days to
speak about both programs so we get an overall experience of
what both are about. The meetings outside the rehab are also
run separately so you can choose which you prefer to go to.
Both have 12 step programs which are basically the same.
It is a tough thing to do. You really have to want to do it
or it won't work. It took me years to admit I had a problem.
I have now turned my life around and am completly sober
and plan to stay that way. I have had to let go of some
people in my life and have replaced them with sober friends.
This is the best thing that I have ever done for myself,
also the most difficult.

I know that alcohol can become a drug..It could be because social drinkers do not consider them selfs druggies..I have an occassional glass of wine,or maybe on a hot day i may drink a cold beer,but i do not consider it a drug for me,simply because i do not have to do this all the time..I do not grave alcohol,nor do i drink alcohol all the time..I think alcohol could become a drug if you are an alcoholic..I have a son that is an alcohol and he gets up in the morning drinking and drinks until bed tome to me he is hooked and it is a drug for him..I have never done any drugs like crack,or any pills or anything even considered a drug...The last time i had a glass of wine was on Mothers day,and not drank one thing since...
