even if the couple will be staying with their parents after they get married, sooner or later they will be living on their own and will start their own family. so you can give them a gift for starter like a set of plates or kitchen ware. or something sexy like a lingerie that the bride can use during their honeymoon. nothing really expensive, just something that will make her feel special and appreciated as a friend..:)

My wife does this. Take the wedding invitation and frame it. Put a nice matting in the frame. Maybe add some flowers either inside the frame or outside of the frame. Make sure it matches the colors of their wedding and invitation. This is a nice gift that they can have and remeber forever.

If they don't have a wedding registry, they should get on it. Opening a gift registry for people to buy gifts for the wedding shower is good practice.

However, in this day and age, offering money is also perfectly acceptable and it'll allow the bride to get whatever she wants. A gift certificate to one of her favourite stores works too. I'd suggest staying in the $60 to $100 range, which will allow you to fork out another $150 or so dollars for the wedding.

They are adorable for the bride after the wedding or on a honeymoon or while dancing! Great gift!

Also I always like to give baskets. You can do a honeymoon basket with stuff thaey could use pending on where they are going like sunblock, towels , etc. Or moving basket so when they move , they have box tags, new home cards to send to friends. You can also google bridal shower candle basket. Its an awesome poem and you get different color candles they can use through out their marriage! Its all cute and somewhat inexpensive?
