I have herbs in my backyard.
I also have a weekly column in a local newspaper and a weekly radio program in a local radio station, all about organic production and processing, in Bisaya,a local language in Mindanao.
I know this contribution is pitiably small. I am trying to organize media persons so that the message can be spread wider and faster through all media of information, if possible, 24 hours a day.

Being native American, my ancestors were ahead of the game because they did not pollute much. When they killed an animals, they used almost all of it in some faction or another. Not like the Europeans that would think it sporting to shoot bison and only take the tongue or maybe the hide and leave the rest to rot. I try to do as much organically as possible including having an organic garden in y yard and I do not mow the lawn much, only when it gets too hard to walk easily. I also make sure to put the wheels so that it cuts on the highest setting, this will shade the soil and help prevent weeds and keep evaporation for taking place too fast. I have cloth bags that I take to the stores to put my purchases in (so I do not have to use plastic bags).When I do a ware change on my aquariums I water my garden with the water taken out. I don't drive as much as I used to and I have bought a more fuel efficient car. I try to recycle as much as possible either giving away what I cannot use or taking from others that cannot use what they are giving away. Landfill are filling up too fast and we need the land for better purposes. I recently too down am aquarium stand that I had made and am using the lumber in other projects.

Well;
We do try to follow these to help for the cause of environment :
1)Re-cycle the products : We sell our Old Items which we no longer use : Old Plastic Bottles , Old Newspapers , Magazines or even Notebooks to Scrap Dealer ( 'Raddiwallah' in Hindi ) .
2) Switch off Lights and Fans when not needed .
3)Save Water by storing in Buckets etc .
4) Walk instead of driving Car for very short distances - Local Markets etc

I recycle everything, have a compost pile, don't use plastic bags or other plastics unless absolutely necessary, garden, buy locally, try to conserve water, buy in bulk so I'm investing less on packaging, turn lights off when I leave the room, make sure my appliances are efficient, walk as much as possible, use organic gardening principles, etc. I try to do everything I can to limit my effects on the environment. Of course, there's always going to be some negative influence you have, but trying to reduce that is always a good thing!
Thanks for trying to keep the environment healthy and doing your part!
