Is it ok to compensate the lack of night sleep with a short nap in the daytime?

One of my friends is doing her college in the morning hours. Later in the night she does e-tutoring job. Since the timings of her own place and that of her student's country varies, she is pushed to sit back in nights before her computer. She goes to sleep at 3 am only. If it was for just a day or two means it would not be a problem. But this is her routine on all days. If I ask her about this whether 4 hours sleep is enough for her, she says that she will be having a short nap in the afternoon after her college hours. But is that ok to compensate the lack of night sleep with the nap in the daytime? In that case, does it mean that the body system has had enough sleep and rest?

It is a wonder what the human body can take and get used to. At one time I used to substitute teach and work as a stocker in a store. My schedule would be sub fomr 7am-about 4, eat and then sleep. Start the stock job at 10pm and work with just enough time to get home, shower up, get changed and get to my next sub job. It was hard and my body felt pretty beat up but I slept when I could. I think your friend sounds like a really hard working person. Hopefully, one day she will make enough where she won't have to do two things at once!

15 min power naps are the best thing ever. Any longer though and you reset your internal clock and it makes you feel crappy. I think a nap in the day works for a lot of people with crazy schedules.
