Do you feel annoying when someone keep calling your phone for the wrong person?

I'd not care to respose to this post few days ago. But when I see this topic I could not help me avoiding this topic now.
There's a story behind this change. No one can understand it if he has not faced such annoying problem. From last week lot of people are calling my mobile asking for some Mr. Gupta. I don't know him and those who are asking him. It's not their fault as the similarities in our phone numbers. But it becomes really irritating when you have to answere hundred times that you are not that person they are looking for. Sometimes I have to switch off my mobile to avoid such situations.

Hello,Yenwie!Because of cross- connections often such things happen in the phones.it is not the mistake of the cooler.in such cases you just reply politely - sorry it is not the number he/she is dialing.but after some time if the same thing is repeated tell that she/he should stop dialing for some time or after calling some other number try the call so that the desired person may be contacted.thanx.

nope, you're not acting rude. your reaction is understandable. i don't know if people really did dial the wrong number or they just want to annoy you. before, someone called me intentionally, and asked for a different person. well, i use to do that when i was younger, looking for phone pals... anyway, those people called so many times that i have to blow a whistle over the phone to make them stop. i kept banging the phone but they just wouldnt stop. finally, i told them, if they talk to me nicely, i will talk them nicely. and they did. they said that they just want to be friend me. i told them, im sorry. i would love to chat but im waiting for a very important phone call. they eventually stopped. now that is annoying!

I have faced this situation quite a few times. it's ok if you get such call once and maybe even twice but anything over that surely is to be handled sternly. I usually do make it clear on the third occasion that this is not nice and I would not entertain anything more.

The worst experience I had was when I got a call at 2:00 am in the night asking for some person I didn't know. the worst part of it is that the person calling was using a language that I didn't understand. I somehow managed to convince the person its a wrong number and I was not the person he was looking for. I put the phone own and tried to get back to my sleep.; a couple of minutes later it was the same number calling again. I was frustrated and cut the call realizing it was the same number. I got the call 6 more times that night and on the last occasion I picked up the call and spoke very irritably and made it clear I was not the person the call was intended for. Thats when my long lost friend wished me "happy Birth Day" and said it was him and the call was intended for me and no one else. That was the most shocking birthday surprise I ever received. It was a great experience.

i have had one in the last few days.
this elderly women rang me up asking for some-one whom i had never heard of before we ended up talking for ages.
she wasn't too good & was sick etc...
i think she was just in need of a listening ear @ the time when she rnug me.
i think she felt really that some-one would whom didn't even know her would sit & listen to her.
