I know that there are a lot of people who may have different views on this. I believe that young ladies and ladies should dress modestly. What I maen by this is not wearing pants or attire for men. Yes not wearing blue jeans or dress pants even if they are made for a women. I dont think that women should wear attire that is tight fitting on them or reveling. Women should take pride in themselfs and wear dresses and skirts and blouses that are not tight fitting and not reveling. Skirts should come down to the knee and not an inch higher. When the bible said for women to dress modestly and not of men attire I believe this is what it ment. What are your views on this? What is your stand point on dressing modestly?

Actually...I've been in a situation where dressing like what the bible said was done to a perfect science. We went as far as to wear our hair loooong and up in a bun during church services.
BUT...if we're to dress according to the bible, then why aren't the men dressing in long "dresses" or garments like they did in those days?

I think that you should be able to dress how ever you want to. Being modest about something should not be solely definde by what you where. In certain areas peple where dresses and such but it is because of their culture and how they were brought up. Here in the USA land of the free christians and others should tell others how they should dress. It is there choice. Plus the bible is old. Look at the time period that it was written in. There is a big difference in what people then were acustom too and what they thought compared to today.

You seem to be sharing my views on dressing especially by women-but many young ladies would could consider u and me outdated and from another generation-today, in the University I work here in Uganda-you find female students dressing in such a tempting manner that you would excuse the rapist if he did his crime on them-pants are showing almost 30% out and the soft tight trousers are so tight that you almost see a blood vessel around the thighs-infact, the tight trousers map all the contours and you never will see any shame in the eyes of these young ladies! They call it modernization! Modest dressing is the way to go but the younger generation see it otherwise!

Couldn't agree better. I myself dress modestly. Regular fitting jeans, not very tight tshirts, salwar kameezes and tunics. If everyone dressed modestly, it would mean a lot lesser eve teasing and abuse cases.

yeah i agree with you.are you a christian?most of the time people doesn't realize that the dress they should wear should be modest and should be in place too.specially in the churches you will see now that the people who go to church does'nt wear their best dress, what i mean is you are there to glorify God and you should be in the modest dress you have or the best dress.

Dress code is a very personal thing, and it is interpreted in many different ways. But myself I prefer for women not to look to flighty and overdressed. But for somw women thats what they enjoy.I dont feel that there ought to be any particular length of skirt you should wear, though I ythink maybe the very short skirts are best left to the young, and im not into very low necked tops, but then again saying that ,I have seen many young girls who look quite stunning in a low necked top.Its difficult, and a lot of what women ,especially younger women tend to wear is all dictated by the fashion industry,if someting is the must have of the month, then all the young women wil want to wear it.Primark has been a very good example of this.Im not sure if you have a Primark shop near to you.but they have been selling very fashionable clothes that are extremely acceptable to the younger generation, and its all taken off well, so hence when Primark brings out a new range there stores are mobbed, girls are trying hard to get the latest dress ,skirt,or shirt from the new range.

Dressing modestly is good because when one does this she will be able to received the respect due to her. Now wearing men attired, I think that this is wrongly interrupted. Remember in the the olden days males were wearing dresses and scarf so wearing male attired does not mean pants or shirts but to me it means wearing the clothes that your husband or brother wears. Now in the some part of the world such as Scotland they wear skirts which is call kilts are you saying that this is only made specially for women. Africans and Asians descent wears flowing gowns.
We need to know exactly what the bible means by not wearing men attired. This is a scripture that really needs to research properly.

Thank babyfirefighter for being concerned about our sisters who dresses in unpleasant way. Many of my african cultures do not allow such type of dressing in society. But of late people especially ladies are adapting western culture. There are some americans who came to my country during summer reasons, we called them oversees summer missionaries, one of the ladies told me before they come to Africa, they are told about the african attitudes towards ladies who are not modest dressed, so they come to africa when they are discipline. Last sunday a lady pastor chased away ladies who did not properly dressed themselves in a pleasant manner. Remember if you dressed in a pleasant way you will cain favor and the community will respect you. You can even address their public meetings.

Hi babyfirefighter
The bible, and other holy books, are all open to interpritation and if that is your interpretation of it then that is what you believe and you, like everyone else, is entitled to their own opinion. I do think that some women, young and old, do wear inapropriate items of clothing but that is not my problem, that is theirs. Who made the law that men should wear trousers and women dresses and skirts? Like who said blue is for boys and pink for girls. What is wrong with women wearing trousers? It's whatever is comfortable. Some people are so poor they don't get the choice and have to wear what people have so kindly given them.
Have a good day
