Life Is Short

To me, life is short. Even if we live a healthy 100 years, the time goes by so fast that soon we are looking back on our life and wondering where all the time has gone. It is funny that when we are young we never think about getting old or having diseases or sickness. Many people take life for granted, abusing their bodies and minds with poisons such as alcohol and drugs. Before you know it, it is too late to fix the damage one has done to oneself. It is also curious to me what kind of hand we are dealt with, will we develop diabetes or heart problems. Will we have arthritis or a stroke? When you are young, you don't think of these things and take your health for granted. Sometimes thinking of these things for me is depressing but I can't help thinking of them. I think this is tied in also with happiness. One's happiness decreases with sickness and debilitation. I think it is best for all people to take care of themselves and not to abuse their bodies so they have the best chances for a healthier life when they get older.

You are speaking wise words about life and growing old, momiecat. Alas, you describe what most of us do: when we're young, we don't think that far ahead. Once we're older, we begin to suffer the results of our mistakes that we made earlier in our lives. It's like my mom said not too long ago, "If I'd have known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself." Wiser words were never spoken. Do take care.

Life is definitely short. it even becomes shorter as time goes by. Let's make the most of our lives while we're still here so that we won't have any regrets at all.
