are you in favor of putting up a union in your workplace?why and why not?

the topic may sound irrelevant to fall under this interest, "helping others who could not help themselves". but before you conclude, let me first and foremost talk in details on why i decided to post it here instead of initiating its discussion under work or employees, and other things related. the very reason for this is because, i myself decided to join in putting up a union to represent employees from the ranks in the fight against corruption and unfair labor practices performed by top managers whose work is nothing but to put the blame from subordinates if not to be faultfinders. i have been in this company for the passed seven years and a real witness on how people from the lowest ranks were being harassed and threatened with contracts not be renewed should they violate or go against personal favors from their supervisors. and so, in lieu of this i accepted the position of being appointed as an officer with the vision and mission to defend the rights of others whom themselves could not do.
if i were you, will you do the same? are you in favor of putting up a union in this kind of scenario?
