Is Ebay your home business or just your hobby?

right now it is sort of both. i am trying to clean out my house and am on sick leave from work, so really, right now its just a hobby. i have been able to sell a few things in the last few weeks which has been cool.

Ebay allows me to find things that I don't find just anywhere. I collect sports cards so it is great that way. But it used to be even better. Prices were the best you could find which forced a lot of stores to close and switch to ebay. Also saw flea markets in the local area close down because people were not going to them any more. But in the last couple of years, ebay fees, paypal fees and the cost of sghipping all going up in price has caused the prices on ebay to also escalate. I find I have to shop around a lot more on ebay looking for the best deal (some dealers haven't begun to overcharge s/h to increase their profits). Now I am seeing flea markets near here make a revival and have other options other than ebay. I still use it but no where near as much as I used to.

Hi... very cute avatar ! I know people who make a decent amount of money selling on eBay. They are very knowledgeable in the categories they sell in, and they understand what the public would be willing to pay. If they can buy low enough, they know they will turn a nice profit on their investments.

I personally buy far more than I sell. I have an online handmade jewelry shop and I'm always looking to save money by purchasing items on eBay at bargain prices. I receive a cash back incentive each time I win an eBay auction and that helps me make extra money (or spend less)
I do sell supplies that I don't use, along with sports memorabilia that I flip (well actually my s/o buys & sells at a profit) To over come eBay's fees, we use a listing tool that pays us money each month if/when the tool is used. (if a potential bidder clicks on the tool to go to one of our other listings, we earn $$ for the tool being used) Some months the tool has covered our eBay and Paypal fees, other months we may have only made a few dollars to go towards the fees.

The competition is pretty fierce on eBay, as many people are looking to supplement their incomes by making money online. But if you are selling unwanted items you no longer need, then everything you make is profit. If you are looking to sell long term, pick an area where items sell well and learn everything about the category. If there is a demand for the items, a knowledgeable person can make a profit pretty consistently.
Yes their new feedback system is awful, and will drive away more sellers. I make sure I ship properly, charging a fair amount and I cover myself by purchasing delivery confirmation (I don't look to make any $$ off of shipping fees)

i use ebay to have an extra income.

I've been selling stuff on ebay since last year. I sell everything from clothes, accessories, bags, books and alot more. It's been doing fine. It's just a source of extra income because there are times when no one buys. You really have to exert effort and sell more items for it to become your primary source of income. I totally agree with you that their feedback system is quite stressful.

Way to gooooo,but sure think it would be hard to make it a way of earning that would keep you full time,maybe better as a secpondary earning,to top up the pot now and again for a holiday or maybe a treat,but as a full time job,not convinced.
