Do u learn women/ men by scent?

I remember there is a movie called something like Scent of woman. When men walk past me wearing perfume, i will make a guess at this man's habit, profession , charater and age according to the scent, even make a rough estimate by the brand he chooses. Let's say, if one uses perfume smell like tabacco, i deduce that he is kind of mature and smokes. Maybe i am right, who knows.
