I couldn't believe how much we've spent on this useless war. As of a few minutes ago, the cost was $539,723,748,152. And, it is going up by the THOUSANDS in just minutes. If you want to look it up yourself the link is: http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home

Check out this link and you can find out how much of YOUR taxes went to the war in Iraq. I thought that was pretty cool (not that it was being spent, but that it was able to be calculated. You have to know what your 2007 salary was (or be close, at least). See how that money compares to what it COULD have been spent on. http://www.facebook.com/share_redirect.php?h=1075ed67167b30bdd14f3d633a7ca0f9&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.progressivefuture.org%2Finvest-in-us-calculator%3Fid4%3DES&sid=24377641532

Wow, that's amazing. We didn't even pay for one second of the war. Still, it was one sencond too much.

Yup - and yet the average citizen is made to feel like a criminal if their finances aren't in check! Gotta love that double standard!

Frankly it is a silly war-what pains me is that the people fo which American Marines are dying enjoy killing the very people who helped them remove a dictator-that is why if I were an American President, I would bring all troops fro what ever bases of the world, back to the shorelines of the Atlantic-Americans had better wait for terror from home!

War is pointless and it kills many innocent people. I am shocked to hear how much was spent on this terrible war and it is even worse to think that the amount is still going up. I think that a country should look after its homeless people and give aid to starving nations. If there is a disaster then a country should be helped. If people are not getting on well that country should be ignored, it is wrong to go there and begin a war. I look back in the past to historical events and think that mankind should have learned by now that war is horrible. People should respect one another rather than fight.

Hey, on second thoughts, may be Bush is actually not as stupid as we think he is. He must have thought that if he gets American boys killed in Iraq, he would have to hire more people in the Army and where else can he find people dying to be American - At the Rio Grande, you tell all the guys swimming across the river at risk of their lives that you can make them instant US citizens if they join the army. At one stroke you solve your immigration problem and your recruitment problem.

I wish it had, too. We could have saved so many people instead of killing others.

Not only is this a useless war, it is an unconstitutional war as well. Only congress can declare war NOT the President, NOT the secretary of Defense, NOT the secretary of State. Bush will go down as a worthless president and leave a legacy of budget defiicts and deceit. The democrats could run Fidel Castro as preident and still beat any republican.

I agree. Hopefully, the new administration will change things, and decide to leave the war. Thanks for your response.

The real cost of war is beyond dollars and cents. It is about lives -- altered, destroyed, changed. And no matter how much adding or subtracting we do, it can never be a victory or gain.

I'm not sure, but I read that the cost of Iraq is getting close to the cost of Vietnam.
