myLot or your favourite TV show, what would you choose?

I sit in front of myLot almost every night, sometimes more active than others, but in general I spend a couple of hours on here. Some nights my favourite TV shows are on TV, and I get drawn between writing on myLot and watching my show. Normally I think that I am going to watch it at say 9 pm. Then when the time comes I am busy writing a discussion or a response, and then I think I'll just finish this and then when I turn on the TV there are ads, and I go back to myLot just to find something new I want to respond to, and then more time passes. So it goes on until I realize the time is 10 pm and the TV show has just started. What about you, do you prefer myLot before your favourite TV show? Do you forget about your show because you are busy on myLot?

I don't get to choose what is on tv here so I watch my favorite shows online when I need a break from mylotting. It's actually kind of nice to do it that way because I can watch them whenever it's convenient. I don't get interupted by kids and life. I can pause the show if I need to and I can keep the volume down low so I won't disturb or annoy anyone else.

I guess online watching is a good option, being able to pause and watch it at your own times. May I ask where you are watching these shows? I hav been trying to find it, but all I find is illegal downloading sites, no online viewing (except a few which all had insane amount of trojans hiding in them). Is it provided by your cable provider or internet provider or is it an online site? Please let me know!

I just go to the official website for the channel the show airs on. A lot of them offer free online viewing, you just can't watch it online until after it's aired on tv. Like for me I'm on the east coast in the US so if my one hour show comes on at 9pm my time, I won't be able to watch it online until after 1am because it won't start on the west coast until midnight my time (9pm their time)

Okay, that is interesting! Thank you! I might have a look at the American TV channels website to see what interesting things I can find :)

That's a good question! I used to watch a lot of television in the evenings, but since I've become addicted to myLot I don't watch it so much. It's quite good actually as I used to watch some pretty rubbish things like a few bad and depressing soap operas, Big Brother and other painful reality shows! Now I use myLot, write reviews and work on my blog instead, and I think that's a bit more productive, and much more enjoyable!

Sorry, I realised I didn't answer your question about favourite TV shows. I tend to record most things that I want to see, so I watch them when I've got time and I'm not on my computer. So, if I have to choose between myLot and watching my favourite programmes when they're on, myLot wins, lol!

I totally agree with you. I have stopped watching so much rubbish TV after starting my blog and finding myLot. This is much more fun than most TV shows and you learn things every day!

hi Emi! I have the television on for the news at lunch-time if I'm here and then in the evening it is background to MyLot. Literally too because it is behind me as I sit at my computer I also decide to watch something but then usually end up here. I listen to the variety shows or talk-shows while I'm here on MyLot but for me MyLot always gets first place! Happy posting!

Wow.. clever! I have tried that, but it doesn't work. I ended up writing whatever they are saying on TV instead of what I am thinking.. Didn't make sense at all, starting of a sentence with my thoughts and ending it with a couple of words from something said on TV! No good at all.. :)
