Hi! Im not one of those especially interested in politics and I never would want to dabble in that kind of thing. Personally I think it just makes people more aware of power, influence and the things that they can do. I know that there might be good politicians but Im guessing there are more politicians who are more interested in securing positions for themselves rather than actually being compassionate and would want to help and care for others.

I can think of a lot of reasons that people would want to go into politics. Number one reason being they get to noticing that they don't like the way the politicians in office are doing and don't believe that the one's who are running for election are any better, so they decide that they can do better than that. Then number two they decide that they would like to have the pay that a politician does, which can be a lot, I think. I think a lot of politicians just like to hear themselves talk and have figured out how to get paid. I think that if you can think of enough to talk about long enough and hold enough people's interests you might could do very well in politics, and even get paid for being long winded.

Well, I suppose it all depends on which country you come from. I think if I lived in the USA and entered politics, I would do so because I would enjoy the perks of being in office -oooppps ;-), I mean I would enjoy the perks of being able to make a difference to the lives of my constituents. I mean, I think allot of politcians do start off with some good ideals about wanting to help people but become more jaded as they get older. However, I think even if you have a small alderman's job, helping the neighbourhood school could be something very satisfying. When it comes to American politicians, I think the best ones are usually at the local level - I think Richard M Daley,Mayor of Chicago is in politics because he does have a genuine affection for the city he runs (he also knows it easier to get things done at the City level than at the National). But I don't live in the States, I live in Singapore, which, although small on the global scale, has quite an interesting political structure. I think if I did go into politics, I would do so because I was hungry to make real changes and I would also be very happy to soak up the attention of the people. The government here is very influential and its footprint is nearly everywhere. So as a politician, I think my ability to influence lives would be greater than that of politicians in any other country. Of course, the money is not too bad for Singapore's politicians. Our Prime Minister only earns four times what the US President does for running a country that is not even equivalent to a suburb of LA or New York.

From your contribution,i can see why some Countries prefer Militry rules. POlitician have misleaded a lot of people. However today's world politics is against the militry rule and they are trying very hard to face out all militry Government ,well this might be good in many ways but i also think that they want every Country to danse to thesame tune, which personally i don't think it's possible.
