There haven't been too many polyandrous societies along history. May be I am mistaken but it might be in Tibeth where it was like that. If we think about sexual needs, that's another thing has nothing to do with how a society is organised ansd what is considered right or not, or may be it is within the human nature. Anyway were are all born somewhere and live according with those patrons.

yes it could be somewhere in tibet, but I am not so sure about it, I don't have any good evidence to say about that. But As far as I know, the first Chinese empress once had many lovers in one time. Would it considered as a polyandry marriage, I don't think so:)

There are many cultures that still practice this, In that a man has more than one wife.

Tribes have been doing it for a long time, the Harems, the Mormons.

In a way its not wrong,
Taking more than one wife, might mean that your TRIBE will survive.

There could be a shortage of men or fertile men.

The Mormons started having more than one wife when the men got a disease and died or could not produce fertile sperm.
So to save this group it was legal to have more than one women/wife.

But once the men folk number got up to a good level again the practice was stopped.

Do you remember years ago the Big oil sheiks and all their wives.

I wont say if its right or wrong, as I do not know why the reason or purpose of the practice is,

If I could afford 4 wives I would have them, but the law where I live will not allow me, maybe I need to move to somewhere it is legal/

But then again if they all started to NAG together that would be hell.

You are right that it's actually alright to some countries to have more than 1 wife and this is for procreation.

In our country it is not allowed as well but of course only those women who have money can sue their husband for having another woman or marrying another woman.Thanks for the post hiccup.

I had that problem before with my ex-husband but I am not bitter about men and generalizing them for being polygamous type.This is just for discussion though.

I guess for some men practicing polygamy adds something to their ego,that they are in control and that they are superior men.My point here is that if you are not happy with your relationship with your present wife why not end it the legal way and continue the relationship with the 2nd one.Anyway reckon thanks for the reply.;p

I agree karyjo that there are some women having multiple partners but not marrying more than one husband.Men has the tendency to marry more than one wife regardless what's their nationality or religion.And society sometimes is unfair bec. they are in favor of men for practicing polygamy.:c Thanks for the post karjyo.;p

Correct it depends on what country you are born into.In our country it's illegal but some still chose to marry more than one women and hide them somewhere.But no secrets can't be revealed eventually these men will be caught of marrying more than one girl.But as expected to country like ours monogamy should be practice.Thanks for posting elixiress.;p

I am sure men do have more than one wife in my country too and keep them a secret, but these are very few. I also suspect that there are also women with several husbands keeping them secret. In a society where equality is promoted, I don't think a man does anything that a woman doesn't.
