I have been thinking and I decided to pose a question to all you mylotters out there in mylotland, have you ever been to a Relay For Life ceremony? If so,was it in your home town?If not, have you ever heard of the Relay For Life? Are you or anyone in your family a cancer surviver,or has anyone in your family lost their life do to the fight with cancer? The Relay For Life has been going on in my hometown for the past eleven years, and back in 2000 my grandmother was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia if I am not mistaken ,and after being in the hospital she managed to beat the cancer,so every since me and my mom and grandfather have gone to the Relay For Life with my grandmother, also my grandmother,my grandfather and one of my aunts on my dads side have lost their lives to cancer so we also go in memory of them, each year they sell luminaries and my mom always buys one in honor of my grandmother from me,and then one in memory of my aunt, grandmother, and grandfather for me,the past couple years I have talked to of my friends into going, and they have really enjoyed the event, and my best friend has started trying to go each year, because it was not too long ago that his sister was diagnosed with cancer, and she managed to beat it,which I really admire him for going because of her,my fiance went with us to the relay which was last Friday at the YMCA and this I believe was her first time in going to one and I believe she was glad she did,and my mother bought a luminary in honor of her nephew because he was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and he survived,I believe this is a very worthy cause, and I believe if there is a Relay For Life near you,you should to go and help raise money to find a cure for cancer, the one who was doing the announcements said that our small town has the best turn out at a Relay For Life that he has ever seen, and I believe that this year was one of the biggest turn outs do to the appearance of country Singer Kevin Sharp who is a cancer survivor himself, and volunteered his time to help raise money, the speaker also said that he wants to challenge everyone to telling other people about the Relay For Life,so that more people will turn out next year, and I honestly believe once you go to a Relay For Life ceremony you will want to go back every year, just because of the feeling you will get from knowing you are helping, and also because of the smiles on the faces of all the people who have had cancer and survived, and that is why I will make sure I go to the Relay For Life every year,I will appreciate all who respond to this discussion, and just like with all my other discussions,I will appreciate all mylotters who give this discussion the seriousness it deserves, because this is a very serious matter, and I hope that this discussion will motivate people who have never been to a Relay For Life ceremony to go,I promise to comment on all responses I receive, which will be determined by how lengthy the response is, and how much quality I can see has been put into the response, have a great day.

If I am just there with you my dear friend... I WOULD SURELY BE RUNNING ALONG SIDE WITH YOU! You truly convinced me to do my part in this great and noble cause that would be able to help those people afflicted with a dreaded disease like cancer. I sure hope that there will be the same kind in my country and I will undoubtedly join it. Thanks for this wonderful share and I am sure many cancer patient are still smiling because of those people like you who are concern and wants them to survive in their battle! God bless your endeavor and God bless all of those people who are still in this battle with cancer.

Hi, I have not been to one before and I don't think if there is one over here. But I have attended cancer support group gatherings and talks. I wonder if it is similar as they do have cancer survivors and those with cancers & family, friends attending, sharing experiences, listening to motivational talks and charity drives.
I am sorry for your loss of your family members to cancer.
And I am glad that after all this while you and your family still diligently contributing your time, efforts & money for this Relay. I am sure lots of people involve in this are grateful and truly appreciate your generosity and kindness
.
My dad had cancer too but survived and would be nice to attend one if they are held over here.
Cheers and have a good weekend.
