i just cant understand why some people are dying to read books.... if you wait for sometime...it'll be released as a movie....then you can watch and enjoy it... you can save some money too...but why are they doing this??? is reading a book is far better than watching a movie???? I dont think so.. Tell me your opinion....

Because movies are all special effects these days. Trust me, you get a bigger picture by reading a book, as movies don't cover everything.

The last movie where I read the book first was Da Vinci Code. Well, it's really different between reading first and watching first. Reading first, you'll tend to see a few tangents off on the movie. You really observe the movie if it matches the book. Sometimes though, since I am not an avid reader, I'd understand some points when I watch it on film. Most of the time though I just watch the movie without reading. Like Harry Potter. I've not read any one of them from front to back. But I've watched all the movies to date. I was just really interested with Da Vinci Code else I'd just set it aside as I just feel sleepy when reading.

i would much rather have the book, i do enjoy seeing the movies, but inevitably the movie is NEVER as good as the book is! they have to cut out a fair amount of what happens in the books in order to make a movie that isnt so long that the audience wont be willing to sit thru. and besides that...going to the theater to see the movie costs MORE than just buying the book! at least it does here!

I guess i am just weird but i would rather have a book then a movie any day. If i just waited for movies there are so many awesome books i would have missed out on because a lot of what i have read haven't been made into movies.

well reading books will improve your knowledge for sure. reading fiction is the best timepass. you can imagine the characters working for you as you like them to. in a movie you will have to watch what is showed.

I like to see the movie too! However long the movie is, will definatly be shorter then how long it will take me to finish reading the book!

I have been a long time reader. It is a lot more fun to picture in your mind's eye the scene as it unfolds in a book. I don't buy books. I go to the library which is right around the corner from me. So I don't spend any money on books. I am saving because I don't go to the theater. My Mom taught me the love of books when I was very small.

With just about every book that I have read that has later been turned into a movie, I have found the book to be much better than the movie. (Please note this is not the case for books that come after the movie that are merely written versions of the movie.) First, books go into more detail than movies can because movies have no choice but to cut some things out due to time constraints. Second, books go into detail about what the character are thinking or feeling that might not ever be verbally expressed. In movies, you have to either depend on the actor or actress trying to communicate those thoughts or emotions or else they have to verbally express them in the film. Third, as has already been pointed out above, not all books are made into movies so there is a whole world out there that you are missing if you limit yourself to movies only.
