Though i never joined any volunteer organization, i should say i am an environmentalist. I have developed the habit of saving paper since early age. When i was given blank sheet of paper, i prefer waste paper, with words on it. i write on the blank area and the back of it. Till now, i use paper like this, make sure every piece of paper is fully used i put it in a paper bag. As far as i know, employees from Wal-Mart Company and many Japanese use paper like this. Also, i save water, esp. when i saw the documentary about rural area where people are thirsty all year round, they have little drinking water, let alone water for bath. This touched me deeply. And what can u do to help? my pal? Welcome to join.

I think who ever is trying to save the earth's resources in any way is an environmentalist. I try to save water, paper, use paper bag instead of plastic bags, save petrol, save electricity etc. We all need to join hands to save our planet.

Like yourself I would save paper to write on it instead of throwing it away. This kept me from having to buy paper and therefore less is produced. There are many ways to I use conserve water, energy and fight pollution. 1. change out your regular light bulbs to the compact florescent ones, they are supposed to save energy and last longer. I know they cost more but will last longer so they are cheaper in the long run. 2. I only wash full loads of laundry and dishes. With the laundry I try to wash mostly in cold water if I can. 3. I unplug things if I am not using them, like the coffee pot, or our chargers etc. Even though the appliance or whatever is turned off if plugged in it is on like a standby power and still using energy. 4. I try and drive less, get what I need in one trip while I am out. This helps save on gasoline consumption and well as a little money. Also helps putting less pollution in the air. 5. I recycle all my aluminum. I take my cans when I go out to the recycle place. I need to find out about the waste management program for recycling. 6. I don't turn up the thermostat too high in the winter I just grab a warmer shirt and or a blanket if I am just sitting around. I try and keeping it comfortable but not too high. 7. I am taking shorter showers and using less water that way. Still working on getting the rest of the family to shorten their time in the shower 8. If it rains I don't water my lawn. I notice our neighbors still watering even though it rained or is raining. Just ridiculous!!! 9. I use canvas bags for my grocery shopping and re-use the plastic ones over and over again as much as possible. 10. I try and support companies who give back to the community enviromentally like Whole Foods etc. It is hard to know sometimes and have to research. Time does not always allow for this. Anyway I try wherever I can to conserve but still not where I want to be. I still drive a gas powered car, would like a Hybrid but can't afford one. Would like alternative energy like solar panels but too expensive. Still I try to do what I can and If ALL of us did some or all of the things mentioned above I think it could make a difference on conserving and not polluting.
