My sister's daughter is very dark and has white patches on her face due to ezcema when she was younger. The products she tried in New Zealand don't seem to be dark enough for her skin, so she has asked if I could find something here for her. Because I don't wear makeup other than the occasional lipstick and lip gloss, I was wondering whether those who wear dark makeup could suggest a foundation or something that she could use to cover the white patches and blend in with her skin color. I did buy a product called "Revlon Custom Creations", the darkest shade they had (called Deep), but she says it's not dark enough. I wish I had a recent picture of her so you could see but I don't sorry. Would appreciate any help and thanks for your comments.

Hi floridachick, Thanks for your website. I have ordered the sample for "dark mocha" and I'll send it off to her when I get a few more samples together. Thanks for that. I'll send her the link as well.

I know very little about makeup, as I do not normally wear it. But my advice would be for her to go to the makeup counter at a department store and allow them to help her find what will be best for her skin. She will not want to put on something that is too dark because then it will not look natural and will not blend with her neck and hands which are exposed more often than not. There have been times when I have been in the mood to play around with makeup and they will help me with the perfect product for my skin tone and texture. The only thing that I can recommend other than that is that she see a dermatologist.

I think she's done that several times in NZ but still hasn't found anything yet. I am going to see if I can gather some samples for her and see if any of them are suitable. Thanks Rozie.

i know in singapore they have dark shades since we have indians and malays as races here and they have darker complexions. Also I'm sure bobbi brown or some brands like these tailor to the african american market which should then have the right shade for every skin colour. there are some other custom made shades but those tend to be very expensive to concoct.

My compliments to you for trying to help your sister and niece as they face this challenge. However, if none of the samples you send work for her, I strongly recommend that she see a professional makeup artist in New Zealand to get help with this problem. I realize that this may be an expensive proposition up front, but it may end up saving a lot of money as well as aggravation in the long run. I would think that somewhere in the country there is someone who could help her. This may be a situation that demands more than just a dark foundation. For example, I believe that there are certain concealors (Dermablend perhaps) that are intended for use by people with facial imperfections such as scars, etc. (more than just blemishes or dark circles. She may need something like this in order to get the good result that she is seeking.

Thanks for the advice deem. I have suggested to my sister to see a dermatologist but I'm not sure if she has done this or not. Talking to a makeup specialist would be better too. thanks for that suggestion and I'll pass it on to her.
