Christian Bale |
|
All of a sudden he's in a couple of franchises (Batman, Terminator) but he's been around since the 80s. Remember him as the kid in "Empire of the Sun"? As the teenager in "Newsies" and "Swing Kids"?
I love him in "Velvet Goldmine".
Who has been a fan of Christian Bale long before he's been a bankable star?

1. darkjedi (4380) | 1 year ago | I didnt know he was in newsies lol. I hadnt really heard about him before batman. Of course I watch a lot of sci fi, fantasy, horror, war kinds of movies too and newsies was alright but not my usual type of movie. Hmmm maybe I should look up his movies and watch them.

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | Oh man! You are so missing out so far! Christian Bale is a movie god:)
You know his dad is married to Gloria Steinem?=)
Newsies is cheesy, but be in the mood for it, it's all good.
American Psycho is a black comedy.
Just know that Christian Bale is an EXTREMLELY versatile actor. If you're open to gender indifference you may like Velvet Goldmine:)

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | Velvet Goldmine is probably a good one to begin with. It's based on glam rock's history, and Citizen Kane. Christian Bale plays a gay journalist embroiled in it all.

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | oh, P.S. Ewan McGregor (Obi Wan!) is also in Velvet Goldmine. Need any more reasons to see it?

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | WOOT! Remember when you see this, Jonathan Rhys Meyers was 19 when he played Brian Slade. Christian Bale was in his 20s, and so was Ewan!

darkjedi (4380) | 1 year ago | Ahh ok cool, it should be done in about 7 hours, though wont have time to watch it tonight, so probably tomorrow, and sigh now I must go to work:(.

2. brimia (6187) | 1 year ago | He's always been a hottie and, oh yeah, a really good actor.;-) He's been in a wide array of films from disturbing (The Machinist and American Psycho) to fun but he's always fascinating to watch. I really loved him in The Prestige, Batman, 3:10 to Yuma...and I just watched Rescue Dawn..another great performance.

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | The Prestige and 3:10 to Yuma were so good.
Rescue Dawn and The Machinist are in the blockbuster queue.
Maybe he's too much of a "pretty boy" now, for critics, but some people do see through and see him as a great method actor...

beeeckie (363) | 1 year ago | Argh, American Psycho is a very funny movie. I didn't "get it" the first time I saw it, and now I think the business card scene is one of the funniest things ever committed to film.
