yeah its really true i have found that out when times do get really hard its is only who you realize who your true friends are and i leanered that the hard way and who i thought was my best friend wasnt there anymore and the friends who i never expected to be there for me were there for me so it did give me a chance to see. so that line really is true

When things get tough, that's when you will find out who your true friends are. I've experienced this several times over the past couple of years. When I was getting beat so badly by my ex, the only people to help me were my next door neighbors of whom I was not friends with. None of my 'so called friends' showed up to help me pack or to help me make the phone calls I had to make in order to be safe & not get killed. My neighbors were there every step of the way, till I left. I thank them for being there for me, they were truly friends to me....Lori

This song really does tell it how it is. I have gone through a time like that. I used to have all these friends and we used to do so much and then one day I found out I was pregnant and most of those friends looked at me and ran. The few I still have today I truely know are my true friends who stuck by me and held my hand, who helped me out and gave me a shoulder to lean on. From that day on, I realized who my true friends were and have never looked back to those who just ditched me and ran.

I like those lyrics. And, I do think that when the times are at their worst for a person, that person will find out who really cares about them because the truest of true friends will be their for them. I do think that a true friend could also be someone who can close even the biggest distance simply by being an ear on the other phone receiver for as long as the person who is hurting needs them. You can show friendship simply by listening to a friend in need on the phone for hours and hours. I think that things can be tough for a good friend too, to a point where they can't literally and physically close distance by showing up at the hurt friend's doorstep but, they can show support with their ears.

But, yes...when the chips are down is the best (while the worst) time for finding out who their true friends are.

Its sooo true... everyone wants to be your friend when things are good. My favorite is that old saying "A friend is not someone who will show up and bail you out of jail, a friend is the one sitting beside you saying 'Boy that was fun'!" True friends will stick with you no matter what the circumstances are, whether separated by time or distance, they always manage to connect at the time you need them most, and you can pick up right where you left off. It's someone you can count on and tell your most secretive and embarassing situation. I'm lucky to have a couple! Have a terrific day!

This a little off track from your song, but reading you say that about that song reminded me of a song that one of my best friedns and I use to sing to each other. The song is Drops of Jupiter. There is a lyric that says, "it's like sticking up for your best friend even when you know their wrong." Girls being girls are so loyal to their freinds. I laugh because we use to sing this song in high school. Every time I hear it I still think of her. And it is true, even if she was wrong and someone was calling hear on it, I would back her 100% just because she was and still is my best friend.

I believe that song's lyrics are VERY TRUE! Everybody in the world wants to be your friend when you're a movie star, won the lottery, or achieved great success in any other way. However, of those million or so people who want to be your friend after a great triumph...how many of them are gonna be there when times are hard? Are they still gonna be there when your a one-hit-wonder, penniless, and in debt? I would say that the chances are good that you are gonna lose some of those oh-so-awesome 'friends' because they weren't in the first place. I know all of this from personal experience...the homecoming queen doesnt keep all of her friends when she moves out of state. At that point I was a has-been and no one was worried about keeping in touch. That hurt alot considering these people wanted to be around me everyday and were sooo concerned about my well-being. The people who are there through thick and thing, laughter and sadness are the ones you need to keep close to your heart.

Alot of people are fake. they act friendly, but they are not really your friend, they dont care about you deeply. So i think the song is true, and be grateful for your real friends.

I think it's true. True friends are there for you through it all - the good, the bad, and the ugly. And it sometimes gets really ugly in life. Of course you have to BE a good friend as well, so it's a 2-way street
