| Bitter gourd or ampalaya as we call it here in the Philippines is a vegetable that is not so popular with children because of its bitter taste. But it is very nutritious and can even help those people who have diabetes. It can also regulate the amount of blood sugar in the body so aside from curing, it also prevents the disease. There are many herbal supplements now in the market that are made from ampalaya. But instead of taking those supplements, I’d rather just eat the vegetable. My mother keeps on making dishes out of ampalaya the past few days and I am not complaining as in spite of its bitter taste, it can also be made a tasty dish. I love ampalaya mixed with some pork and egg. I also like ampalaya leaves in a monggo dish. | | | | | |

I just wonder why some dislike the bitter taste when the health benefits are countless.
