Dogs:What would you do if one came into your yard? | | | | I have decided to make this discussion and ask all you mylotters out there, what would you do if a dog came into your yard?Would you ignore it?Would you chase it out of the yard?Would you shoot it?What if it was a neighbors dog? What if the dog attacked one of your dogs?Would you shoot it?Would chase it off?If you knew who it belonged to would to cuss them out?Would you tell them to keep their dog out of your yard or next time you would shoot it?Would you call the pound and have the dog taken away? The reason that I am posting about this is because Wednesday night about eight o clock a neighbor from down the road was walking their dog,it was not on a leash and it wandered into our yard, our two chihuahuas were outside, and they chased the dog out of the yard, and the dog turned around and bit the biggest chihuahua whose name is Cracker,my mom saw it and she told the lady to stay with Cracker while she took the other chihuahua Peanut into the house and got,my father,my fiance and me,we got a blanket and wrapped him up and took him to the emergency animal hospital, and after x-rays were done they said that the bite had punctured one of his lungs and air was escaping, she said he was stable but the next couple hours would tell, and that if he got worse that she would call, and that no news is good news,so we came home, and we were all worried about him, about seven am my mom called and the vet said that he was doing fine and that he could be transported to our primary vet to be watched over more,so we went and picked him up,and took him to the other vet,who looked at the report and looked at him,and said that he thought he was good enough to go home and to keep Peanut away from him for a couple days, and to bring him back this morning so they can examine the wound and change his bandage,so we brought him home, and my dad took Peanut to a guy he works with, and we are supposed to get him back on Monday,he seems to be doing better this morning, and he is moving around a lot more, even though apparently at some point he pulled his catheter out of his paw,and chewed on his bandage,I was so mad at that dog, that I said that if I ever see it in our yard again,or if it ever comes after the chihuahuas again,I will put that dog down,my mom and dad said we would start walking Peanut and Cracker on a leash to keep this from happening, and my dad went up to talk to the owners of the other dog to tell them that they better keep it on a leash, and he said if they do not put it on a leash and it comes into our yard he will shoot it,and I do not blame him,and I think that the owners should have to pay for what happened since it was their faults for not teaching their dog to obey, and the woman did not seem to do anything about it other than say she was sorry, which is some major crap if you ask me,also apparently she did not tell her husband and my father told him yesterday morning, and the husband tried to make excuses saying that our chihuahuas wandered into their yard,Do you think I am wrong for wanting to hurt the other dog?I do not have a recent picture of Cracker but I do have a picture of him when we first got him which I have added to this discussion, and hopefully me and my fiance will be able to get some pictures of him after he is healed, and I will share them with anyone who wants to see them,I will appreciate all responses to this discussion and just like with all my other discussions please take this serious, because to me this is a very serious matter,I will comment on all responses I get,and the more quality put into the response the more I will comment, have a great day. | | Our chihuahua Cracker | | | | | | | | | Potty Train a Chihuahua Chihuahua Potty Trained. | | First off, the neighbor was clearly in the wrong. Is there a leash law where you live? Some cities/towns have leash laws that state a dog has to be on a leash unless it is fenced in on your own property. Secondly, I would have probably done the same thing your dad did, they would get one warning, the next call would be telling them to come pick up their dead dog. I have a neighbor that for whatever reason will not fix their own fence and their dog gets out. The other day I over heard her tell another neighbor that her dog is always tied up! Yeah, right, that's why I have run him out of our yard twice. The next time he comes in our yard, he will run home yelping, after I pepper spray him! | | | | | | | hellcowboy (5009)

| | I am glad that someone agrees that the neighbor was in the wrong, and I am not sure if there is a leash law where we live, but it might be something worth checking into, and that is refreshing to know that you would give them one warning, before calling to tell them to pick up their dead dog,and it sounds like your neighbor needs to fix their dang fence, and I hope it does come into your yard so you can pepper spray it because that might teach it to think twice before coming back, thanks for responding, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting. | | | | | | | Potty Train a Chihuahua Chihuahua Potty Trained. | | I am glad that you agree that the neighbor is in the wrong, and I agree she should have leashed her dog before walking it,I am sorry to hear that your dog bit someone else's dog,and I am glad that you have kept your dog leashed since, and that you paid for the medication of the other dog,and I agree the neighbor should be paying for the medical expenses of Cracker, and it makes me feel better to know that you would feel the same way,and that you would want to hurt the other dog if you ever saw it lurking around in your yard, and I think throwing stones is a good idea, and it might teach the other dog a lesson,so I might try that if I ever see the dog in our yard again, thanks for your well wishes, and it seems like Cracker is healing at a good rate and should be completely back to normal soon, thanks for responding my friend, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting. | | | | richiem (1515)

| | Where i live is actually the city, but in the neighborhood people just let their dogs run wild. I have had many dogs in my yard and have come to know most of them by name. when i was younger i had a dog that was attacked while i was walking him, he was a pretty strong dog (mix of wolf and english bulldog) and he sent the other dog off bloody. I was traumatized. I was just walking my dog and out of nowhere another dog attacks. It was the scariest thing. I think if people are going to have pets then they need to be responsible for them. I do not blame you for wanting to have the other dog put down or anything like that, I would probably feel the same if my chi had been attacked. As far as them not taking responsibility for the cost, i would be sueing someone. | | | | | | | hellcowboy (5009)

| | I am sorry to hear that where you live the neighborhood people just let their dogs run freely, but that is kind of cool that you have come to know most of the dogs that come in your yard by name, and I am sorry to hear that your dog got attacked but I am glad that he managed to fight the other dog off,I bet it was the scariest thing,as I know when our dog Cracker got attacked it was the scariest thing that has happened to me in a long time, and I agree sueing someone is a great idea, and I kind of wish we could sue the Hispanics who own the dog that attacked ours, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting. | | | | | | | High Quality Dog Food Some Dog Foods Are Better Than Others - Compare Your Brand to BLUE BlueBuffalo.com | add comment | | | |

| | I am sorry this happened to you, I am having similar problems with a doberman next door and he has a fenced in yard but they think its cool for him to come in my yard. I had it, especially at night I have two scotties and one is still a pup they are always on leashes. I threatened him to get in his yard, next time I would come out with a gun. But I called animal control this morning they suggested an umbrella? They are not good neighbors. My husband had congested heart failure and they continued to let the dog bark. I am tired and have had it. There has to be a better way of taking care of people that are not respectful of others. I love my Scotties. Z | | | | | | | hellcowboy (5009)

| | I am sorry to hear you are suffering from a similar problem with a doberman next door and it is not cool that he comes into your yard, and I can understand that you would be worried about your poor Scotties and I can understand that you would threaten him to get back in his yard, and I would not blame you for coming up out with a gun,I do not know why animal control would suggest an umbrella because that is kind of silly, and I agree there has to be a way to deal with people that are not respectful of others,I hope that you find a solution, thanks for responding, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting. | | | | | | | Find the Car You Want Choose a Car from Millions of Listings - New, Used or Certified. | | I am a dog lover. Your story is sad and I hope that your unfortunate chihuauaha recovers and gets back to normal. If I had dogs I would try to make sure that it was safe for my dogs, either by putting some kind of fence, otherwise I would not leg my dogs roam freely in the yard. If I were you I would charge the dog;s owner for not keeping his dog on a leash and send him the vet's bills. | | | | | | | ronaldinu (9358)

| | That is cool that you are a dog lover, and Cracker has recovered and he is doing good now,and now we take both chihuahuas out into the back yard and we make sure someone stays outside and watches them to make sure it does not happen again,we have not seen the other dog since the day of the attack, and I wanted to charge the dog with the vet bills, but there is no guarantee they would pay for them, and I am still keeping an eye out for that dog, thanks for responding, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend. | | | | | | | Frontline Plus Flea&Tick for Dogs and Cats. | | Hi hellcowboy, First of all, this is the fault of your neighbor..They know that you have dogs which are smaller than what she got, so , she should be vigilant and be in control of her dog! I don't blame you for feeling that way because you only care about your dog and we want to punish the wrong behavior of their dog but hopefully, your neighbor will be more watchful and careful this time! I remember my Dad, no matter how dog lover he is once our dog will commit any mistakes, he will always punish them by spank and they always behave and know when to stop once they will see Dad! Hopefully, your dog will be able to recover and that not be attacked again by the other dog! | | | | | | | hellcowboy (5009)

| | I am glad that you agree it was the fault of the neighbor, and they are very aware that we have two small chihuahuas, and she should have been very vigilant and kept her dog under control, and I am glad that you can understand me wanting to punish the other dog for what it has done, and we have not seen the dog since,so maybe they are afraid to walk it infront of our house anymore, and I agree if a dog does something bad it should be punished, and Cracker has fully recovered and is doing fine, and we now take them in the back yard, and someone always stays outside with them to make sure nothing like that ever happens again, thanks for responding, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend. | | | | | | | Find the Dog For You Learn About Different Dog Breeds.
