Delta Offering WiFi on USA Flights  email this discussion to a friend?

Delta announced just today that they will be offering WiFi on USA flights. Because no one has offered this before, they don't have to worry about the fact that it was previously free and now people are upset they are being charged for it.

Looks like they plan to have this available in every aircraft next year. Yay!

Do you think the $9.95 for for flights under three hours and $12.95 for any flight over three hours is a decent price and will this cause you to choose Delta for USA travel over other airlines?

I don't think they should charge for WiFi at all. All airlines should have it as a bonus for their guests. A lot of passangers that are traveling are either for business or vacation but cannot leave business behind. Sometimes being able to work on that plain ride gives you more time to do some site seeing as you got the work done on that long flight. However on the other hand, doing that would probably bump up the price of tickets and that is unfair for the people that don't have a laptop, iphone or wifi device. On second thought, maybe it is better to charge those who want to use it. $9.95 isn't bad to get some work done and more free time. Yeah charge away!!

The whole basis of why airlines are charging now for formerly "free" services is all based on the USA economy and current oil prices in the USA along with fuel prices in the USA.

This in mind, those prices have and are going down (still awaiting stabilization) so basically Delta is saying, right now, that everything will still be in the proverbial toilet next year.

I do agree with you liltunergirl. Charge the individual. I'm not going to waste my resting time in flight on mucking about with my PSP or laptop so why should I pay even higher ticket prices just so the person sitting next to me can keep me awake with all that tap tap taping on their keyboard. LOL

It is an innovative idea. I have a PDA and I can access the internet. However I doubt wheter I would be interested to log on to the internet during a flight. I would be more interested to see the arial views of the countries that I am going to visit. @ ronaldinu 2008

I'm only interested for high altitude overnight flights. But then again, I don't take those anymore. Maybe in a few years. :)
