Do You Prefer Long Courtship or Long Engagement?

My husband courted me for only a month and we were engaged for a year. But we're friends for quite some time already before courtship began. I don't for you but I do believe for long friendship then short term courtship and engagement. Meaning, it's nice to know each other as friends for quite some time before entering a romantic relationship. =)
