Ideal fonts to use in web design?  

The reason people stick with these fonts is that not all browser and/or pcs support the more fancy ones, plus it should be easy and clean on the eye. I would stick with non (sans) serif fonts, less messy to look at in my opinion. If you have something like photoshop, coreldraw or even word, you can check out the font lists there and see what pleases you. Try in out in your web browser, and try to check it in more than one, eg. Firefox, Explorer, Flock. Hope that helps.

Base from your comment to Ritz, its fonts for your logos. Your selection should match your logo design, there are formal, informal, comic or fun fonts. Since the final result is an image, then you wont be worrying about your viewer not having them. My favorites are Dauphin for formal, Haettenschweiler, OzHandicraft, Memphis to name a few. Try googling from free fonts or visit this site http://www.urbanfonts.com/ to see them before you get them.
