How early do you finish your Christmas shopping?

I am usually pretty good with it - about 3 weeks in advance. My mom is good at it too. Since us, her kids, are grown up, she is trying a new method by just giving us money and letting us buy what we want? Do you think this will ruin the spirit of the day?

Last year I already started my Christmas shoppings early as August and was finished two weeks before Christmas. not that I have a lot of people to give gifts, it's just that there are some gifts that are easy to find and some gifts that you can't seem to find. and of course the financial issues prohibits me to finish my shopping earlier. This year I am not planning to do any Christmas shopping. I don't have the luxury of time and money.

i start very early in the new year (when the sales are on!) and dont usually finish til the start of december. i buy stuff all year round and start wrapping in about october. no, i know a lot of people that give money so that the recipient can get what they want (at the sales!)

I try to do my christmas shopping during the year, hitting sales, or yard sales or even thrift shops (with new in package stuff) makes it so much easier, plus you don't have to worry about having enough money..I finish up with stocking stuffers the week before christmas..

I decided years ago to wait till the last minute to even start shopping. I find the earlier I start the more money I spend so if I wait till the last couple weeks before christmas then I don't buy a ton of extra stuff. Not only that with kids their christmas list changes as fast as the commercials they watch. Usually by the time I buy for the six kids there's no money for anyone else so thats pretty much all my shopping and now that they are getting older and moving on with their own lives I give the older ones money or take them on a shopping trip for clothes, which is all they want these days. (ugh girls are so picky)
