HI, How many of you will be watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics tonight? I was watching the news and they were talking about how bad the air is there due to pollution! One athlete, pulled out of the Olympics due to the poor air quality! Why would we select a country where people must use masks on a daily basis due to pollution???

I had not heard about that. Why would you pull out of something as big as the Olympics just ecaue of air polution that sound downright stupid to me. I doubt if I will watch the opening ceremonies though as I find the Olympics to be a little bit boring.

HI, I think the main reason the person did not go or left when he got there was that he did not want to risk anything negative with his health due to breathing the pollution. I watched part of the Opening but, fell asleep, so missed the good stuff (I hear) that came later.

Hello dixie1, I know I'm going to be shot down but in my opinon, the athletes should have pulled out of the Olympics completley because the pollution will cause great health risk to them and I stll do not understand why the games were given to them, sorry! Tamara

Hi, I was shocked when I heard about all this just recently. I agree with you. No one should have to jeopardize their health! I'm not positive...but, isn't this the first time China ever had this opportunity?
