I wrote my first short story not long ago and entered it in a contest on the Accentuate Writers Forum. It was fun writing the story. Everything flowed smoothly and I like my characters alot. I think the story makes sense and sounds alright. So far I've got good feedback. I know I won't win the contest, but I can learn something from the experience. I'm trying to become a better writer and entering contest and receiving feedback is a way to accomplish that goal.

Got a link to that forum? Sounds interesting. I've done similar before, and put in a short story for SFX's 'pulp idol' competition a couple of years back. Didn't get into the top 10, so it wasn't published in the little giveaway book they had on the cover, but it was good enough to get an honourable mention in the runners up. Hell of a buzz seeing my name in print and the first line of it, in an actual book ;)

Here's the link to the Accentuate Writers Forum. We love having new members on the site. Will you be using the same name if you sign up? http://www.accentuateservices.com/xmb/index.php

My names Angel so if you join let me know it's you. I might not recognize the name. I'm awful with names and my memory sucks.

Thank you. The forum will be having two more contests before the end of the year. I'm sure I'll enter both of them. Practice makes perfect they say!

This is good that you submitted it. Eveb if it wont win any prizes. My wife and middle daughter both love writing. I am waiting for Jenny to be a famous writter some day. Lori has no interst in publishing and does it just for her own enjoyment. I think she writes wonderful stories. Both her and Jenny are very imaginative in the stories. But back to you. Once again it is great and you probably feel good about it.

I do feel good about it. I've been reading all the others stories that have been submitted and mine isn't too much worse..lol. Just have to see what happens. Your wife and daughter might want to check out the accentuatewritersforum. It's a great place for writers, no matter what level they're at.

Hi my friend, Congratulations on finishing your first short story! You are stronger than I am and I think that's great! I am just now dabbing into the writing society. I've done 5 articles in the past couple of days. Four of them I submitted to Associated Content and one to Helliam for an article they were looking for that I thought I had quite a bit of knowledge about. Hopefully I'll have some good news in about a week or so. Keep writing and I'm sure you'll do great!! Happy MyLotting, Char

Good for you! Exposure sometimes is worth more than winning. But, the fact that you put your writing out there for the world to see is a big step in itself. Keep writing, keep entering contests, and keep learning! Congratulations.*S*

Thank you. I am going to keep trying. I can't wait to hear the feedback from the editor that is going to critique my story. I want to see what all I have to improve on so the next story will be even better.
