Australians...please enlighten my views on people in Australia....  |

 I am working in an Australian call centers where my boss are australians..We call people in Australian homes not selling but just lead generating or in short we call them to get their email and mobile phone then someone from another company will call them about the products they want to offer this people. I have been in this call center since the 22nd of July. The thing is I was so stressed and mostly everyday I get angry at the people I call. Why? Because not a day did I get someone rude on the other line. They bad mouth me and some people even shout that it startles me..Some even scratches the phone with some stuff irritating to the ear. I am so disappointed with this people. I work 8 hours talking on the phone because we are doing predictive dialing which means calls comes after another and we don't stop talking unless we get voice mails which we don't leave any. Sometimes before the day ends my throat hurts so much that it feels like it has a ball inside it hitting the side of my throat when I talk and then you will get this very rude calls...Why can't they just hang up and not say anything or say nicely that we are not interested? My purpose in this discussion is..are there any australians in here? Can you guys give me a good point of view of people in Australia..are most of them rude? I was just wondering..because even my Australian boss is so rude to the people who works at that call center..Really annoying..Anybody experienced anything similar?

BYOLA2871 (1886) | 1 year ago |  My dear,dont get so worked up about this and i must say this that the decision to be rude or not is not a national habit but a personal attitudew and besides when you deal with various unanimous people especially when its not on face to face basis they can become less respecting when they dont know you previously but the best you can do is just to keep your cool as for your boss he is likely to be under pressure for him to perform better.

I think you'll find that many of us dislike telemarketers, usually because of their own rudeness, the language barrier or the fact that they usually call right at dinner time. Those that launch right into what they are trying to sell as soon as you answer the phone are the most annoying. How about asking if it an appropriate time to be calling, and am I interested in finding out about why you are calling.
I'm sorry that this job didn't work out for you and I am sorry that it has left a bad taste in your mouth regarding Australians. I hope you have found something less stressful. All I can tell you is I always listen to what someone has to say and then tell them if I am interested or not.
Regarding the rude boss, I've had plenty of them myself...I think it is a power trip:)
