Not all violations of the law are crimes, says the US Atty. General

Funny - try saying that to a cop who pulls you over for anything only to find a baggie on the floor that someone else dropped in your car that no longer has anything in it (except for traces) that you knew nothing about. Right. You committed no crime - but sure as hell you'll be arrested!! Now, apply this statement to the PROVEN fact that, under Alberto Gonzales, numerous Federal hiring practices and laws WERE broken, deliberately, in order to pad the justice department with pro-Bushers (a Federal law so all-encompassing that even bumper stickers on employee vehicles are not allowed at most Federal facilities because they "promote" a specific party)! Yet, it was to THESE very actions that this statement was applied. Oh, we were wooed into thinking that this man was NOT a bootlicker and NOT a yes-man for the current administration. In fact, it really did appear that way when Mr. Mukasey went against Bush's wishes in investigating this very violation of law by his predecessor. Too good to be true, obviously - just some gum in the dike in order to appear the leak was stayed. Anyway, here is the article. Read it for yourself. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-mukasey13-2008aug13,0,6472132.story Now, I'd like to hear your perceptions of this event as well as whether or not you think there ARE times when a law violation wouldn't be a crime (regardless of degree - not all crimes get jail time). Personally, I feel that breaking a law to save a life should not be a crime. How do you feel?

Many people are not aware that George Bush has broken numerous laws during his presidency. House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI) released "Constitution in Crisis," a report identifying 26 specific laws and regulations implicated by the Bush Administration. The 350-page document is divided into sections on Iraq and civil liberties and supported with more than 1,400 footnotes. "The situation we find ourselves in today under the administration of George W. Bush is systemically worse than previous scandals such as Watergate and Iran-Contra," Conyers said. "The alleged acts of wrongdoing my staff has documented -- which include making misleading statements about the decision to go to war; manipulating intelligence; facilitating and countenancing torture; using classified information to out a CIA agent; and violating federal surveillance and privacy laws -- are quite serious." This has to be the most corrupt Administration I've ever laid eyes on. George Bush believes that being President of the United States of America make him above the law. I hope that he will be someday held accountable for all the crimes he and his adminiatration has comitted. This is a nation of laws. Lloyd

That is quickly being run by a body of law breakers for whom the law is meaningless, even as they apply it more harshly and with fewer guidelines to others. Someone had better put a stop to it before it's too late!
